  1. The Sun just disappeared from view for the first time since early Tuesday pm (before someone says it, not including night-time of course ). The cloud is slowly building from the north and west as forecast but still feels fantastic out there. Temp has just managed to match yesterday's high here of 19.3°.
  2. Morning! Another cracking start to the day here. I just had toast and coffee in the garden and the temp feels incredible even though officially it is only 11.2° While I was out there I was thinking, if we could just have a couple of these type spells every month thru the Summer, I'm sure we'd all be happy, well I would be anyway
  3. Just to add that i too lost an old cat friend 3 years ago, he had just turned 20 and really was like a member of the family, my son had always had him in his life, he took it particularly badly. So condolences to all. Back to the weather: Close but not quite, a high of 19.3° and still 'wall to wall' here.
  4. Temp has just nudged 18° here and still rising, in with a half chance of 20° today, a few days earlier than predicted perhaps?
  5. Hi bjk, luckily, we do not get frogs in the garden, no one around us has a pond or anything like that and the river is about 400m away. Not the best picture but here is 'my' Reed Bunting trying to blend in to the background. We originally had a pair that would come in and feed but not seen them together for over a month now. Talking of strange birds, surprisingly I have been told that there is a 'Hoopoe' in the next village, really hoping that it will pay us a visit.
  6. Great garden bjk, looks gorgeous and well looked after. Unbelieveably at 16.55 the temp was 17.2° here and still rising! Very unusual this late in the day. Not seen a cloud all day today, a really beautiful day and long may it continue.... Edit: Meant to say as well, heard my first Cuckoo of the year today, no wonder the songbirds have been so quiet.
  7. I concur with the previous few posts, it does look like a 'good' week or so coming up Currently 9.9° here with broken cloud and a slight breeze but feeling nice in the sun. Had an unusual visitor to the garden yesterday and he's already been back this morning with the missus. Hoping to get a better picture at some point but for now, the Yellowhammer...
  8. What a difference today compared with yesterday, a high of only 13.3° today compared with 21.7° yesterday. Looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend after an absolutely crazy hard week. Cheers
  9. What a fantastic weekend up here in the Norf of our region. Spent the whole day in the garden on Saturday and did not see a single cloud all day, absolutely beautiful. With the numerous species of birds gracing the sky and the garden, the paragliders jumping and floating from planes form nearby Sibson airfield, it felt like I was in heaven! The temp only topped out at 18.2°c but measured the temp in direct sunlight and a rough recording was 29°, hence the very red chest, neck, back and forehead! Yesterday started out the same but the sun soon became hazy and by 1ish it was more cloud than sun but still warm with a top temp of 17.3°. Today has started ok, partly cloudy with some hazy sun getting through. Right, the weekend's over, better get some work done
  10. Much fresher feel this morning but lovely as the wind is almost non existent. Currently 8.8°c and partly cloudy. BBC weather have the line of showers that is moving south east today to the west of me but at the moment they are all to the east. Perhaps a little bit of nowcasting is required to see where the showers end up. Ouch! Wish him well SA
  11. Yeah, s'pose your right Paul but still feel sad, especially with all the possible history associated with it.
  12. No sign's of any T-Storms up here at the mo', we have had a couple of very light showers over the past few hours but it is currently beautiful sunshine with a light wind and the warmest it's been all day at 15.2°c.
  13. Still cloudy, windy and feeling cold out there at the moment, even though the temp is actually 15.5°c. Hoping for a better late afternoon/evening.
  14. After a beautiful morning here and the temperature reaching 13.8°c, it has now dropped to 11.4°c and feeling much cooler. Looks as though the rain is about 20 miles to our south west at the mo'.
  15. Temp currently 6.7°c here and climbing steadily, it was sunny ish about an hour ago but it has now clouded over completely. Yesterday was the warmest day of the year here so far, with a top temp of 12.8°c but feeling absolutely beautiful in the sun. Fingers crossed for Sunday, we have our first family bbq of the year planned
  16. Even though it feels a lot cooler today, the temp has actually peaked at 0.2°c higher than yesterday, 11.1 today and 10.9 yesterday. On a sad note, re the picture I posted last week of the baby rabbits in my garden, 2 have been lost to something, it's either next doors cat or the weasel. At least the Magpies have had their fill
  17. Just checked the temp here and it says 11.1°c and still climbing! Beautiful day here, sunshine slightly hazy with a very gentle breeze, almost perfect.
  18. Beautiful day here today, temp reached 10.2°c but it felt like much warmer. Spent most of the day in the garden, preparing and laying hardcore ready for my shed. The wife has been baking all afternoon, so the house smells like heaven. Think I deserve a sit down, a freshly baked biscotti biscuit and a beer now.
  19. Apart from the cold wind that although much lighter than yesterday is still cold, it has been quite a nice day up here, more sun than cloud. Top temp of 8.1°c and now down to 7.2°c. The sun has encouraged these little blighters to start on my lawn, oh well, at least it will help with the mowing...
  20. Been a horrible feeling day here today, temp is currently 6.6°c after a high of 7.8 earlier but it has felt bitter in that cutting wind. Just a note on the wind turbines stuff earlier, in comparison to these damn things, I think they are majestic!
  21. The temperature has already reached 6.2°c here in Peterborough today. Had an interesting drive to and from Carlisle over the weekend. Firstly, i couldn't believe the size of the snow drifts on the side of the southbound carriageway on the A1 between Stamford and Grantham, they were easily a foot deep still. There is a possibility though that the snow had been ploughed to the side of the road and then the wind had done it's magic but the scene looked incredible, however it was formed. Secondly, the trip involved a journey over the A66 from Scotch Corner to Penrith. The snow at the highest elevations was still a great sight. I also took a note of the temperature differences from one side to the other, at Scotch Corner at approx 170m asl on Saturday morning it was 6.5°c, at what I think is the highest elevation on route, approx 470m asl it was 1.5°c and at the other end of the A66 at approx 120m asl it was up to 7°c, all in the space of about 50 miles. A real lesson on how elevation can have such a dramatic effect on temps and snowcover. Didn't have the time to stop for any photo's unfortunately (plus the wife was driving), but it was a great journey.
  22. Another morning of beautiful sunshine, light snow and then back to sun again. Temp here currently 1.7°c after an overnight low of -2.9°c. Leaving in a few mins for a few days in Carlisle, have spoken to the Sister and Brother-in-Law and they are promising me a 'Lock-in' at their local tonight. Think i'm getting a bit too old for this as the thought of it, is making me feel sleepy now!
