With the wind direction as is, we are bang in line for anything building from the Wash. Could be an interesting night for us in the north of the region. -

Was really expecting some heavyish rain today so didn't water the garden last night, I think we've had the grand total of about 12 drops all day! Talking of my garden, I love this comparison: April End of August -
And most of them still with no lights on!!

Beautiful blue sky here at the moment, looks like the heaviest showers in this area are going to the west and east of me. The really heavy stuff looks like it is moving from the south of Birmingham moving south east.

After a lovely end to the day yesterday here and a lovely start to the day today, it has now clouded over and is feeling a bit chilly. Current temp of 8.3° with a very slight but increasing breeze. So much for a couple of hours in the garden this afternoon, I think I'll wait til' Saturday.

South East & East Anglia Regional Discussion 7th May 2013

Hi everyone, I have an offer to make to a few members of the region. I own an outside catering company in Peterborough called Bailey's Caterers. I have not been on for about a week because I have been in Scotland and Durham catering for the hospitality guests for the Pearl Izumi Tour Series (PITS). For those who don't know, it is a series of town centre cycle races run by the Tour of Britain, that runs for 5 weeks throughout May and June. Now, the PITS is coming to our region on the following dates, Colchester 30th May, Woking 11th June, Aylsham 13th June and the final leg in Ipswich on the 14th June. I am offering 2 hospitality places at each location as my personal guests, all I ask is that you have at least an interest in professional cycling. You'll get a free programme, free food and and free drink, plus be right by the start/finish line. I will confirm times with the anyone that is interested, just let me know asap. If more than 2 people apply, I will draw names out of a hat, if only 1 applies, then they can bring a partner or friend. Good luck! Edit: I meant to add that all applications by PM please, don't want to clog up the thread talking about cycling :-) Here are some pictures (taken by one of my sisters in law) of the 1st leg last week in Kirkcaldy. A lovely bright fresh start to the day here today. Like fools, one of my brother-in-laws and myself decided that yesterday was the day to build my shed base and erect the shed that has been leaning on the side of the old cottage for about 2 months. Luckily enough, my garden is fairly well sheltered but the mature trees that surround me and give the shelter were buffeted like crazy. Only one large branch came down in a tree between my garden and my neighbour's, I estimate that at it's thickest point it was about 25cms in circumference, so, no mean feet by mother nature! And this morning? Yep the shed's still standing- 533 replies

I agree Steve, high winds are ok late Autumn and Winter but now? No thank you. Here this morning there is about 50% cloud cover but the clouds we do have are streaking across the sky from sw to ne. Feeling really fresh with a current temp of 7.9°.- 533 replies

After a damp drizzly start to the day here the sun is also trying to squeeze through. Looks as though some of us may be in for storms later according to the BBC?- 533 replies

After a lovely start to the day it has now clouded over but is still warm. My gauge is showing 21.1° but Wittering just to the North of me was showing 19.9° at 3pm. My temp here yesterday was the highest of the year so far, topping out at 22.7° even though it felt far warmer due to the humidity, as proven by one seriously grumpy cat hissing everytime somebody went within 2 feet of him.- 533 replies

Looks quite surreal here at the moment, to the south and south west of me the clouds look heavy, dark and almost bluish in colour. Up above me? Beautiful clear blue sky....- 784 replies

Just heard a couple of rumbles of thunder out to the west of me as well. Just started to rain again. Edit: The heaviest rain may be to the north and the south of me though unfortunately and as I type, another crack of thunder, it's definitely close!- 784 replies

My closest official station is Wittering which is about 6 miles north and slightly west of me, at 1o'clock it was only showing 15.9°! I think I trust my little amateur effort more than that, it has been absolutely glorious here and definitely warmer than that. I have also just checked the infamous 'Peterborough weather watch' and they are currently showing 19.7°, I think that is definitely closer to the truth. But hey, what do i know...- 784 replies
