  1. I would say two places, high ground of east Kent around Folkestone/Dover/Canterbury, or eastern areas of East Anglia, not too nr the coast mind, maybe just in from Lowestoft or Gt Yarmouth. These areas tend to get a lot of the streamers/clippers that can produce some big snow amounts. Not too far north as the summers are too cold if your used to living in the SE and they son't get much more snow these days anyway. Any other ideas?
  2. A friend of mine moved to Bedford ages ago, said it was really far away. Never saw him again.... No correction, saw him once then never again.
  3. Ahhh but was it early February? I have seen many spring easterlies produce little, and autumn ones too if it comes to that, but 10th/11th Feb? This felt to me more like an easterly that you might expect in the South in about a months time, ie mid March.
  4. Particularly poignant when you consider that uppers were in the -7 to -11c range in the SE from early Friday until this morning. So what do I need for some snow then in February now then around here? -15c upper air which is once in a lifetime sort of stuff? We have had Thames streamers on lower upper temps than that, and lower 2m temperatures.
  5. No mine didn't either apart from on cars on and off, tried a few times to settle in the back garden but melted really fast, almost straight away in fact. I managed to miss the heavier PPN most of the time though here and when I did get a heavier burst it would turn to rain or them bloody sleety ice pellet things. All in all a pathetic easterly from my point of view.
  6. Tomorrow should be the last day of drops, could see some big rises after mid month as things warm up.
  7. Really pleased that many of you north of London got a covering of snow last night, the models were right about this one last lot of snowfall before the less cold air moves in after all. Not that its turned noticeably milder though.
  8. And just as you feel like chucking the towel in, looks like a band of pretty heavy snow could turn up in Norfolk tomorrow morning.
  9. They are always playing down any cold these days, very strange indeed.
  10. As soon as it started to settle it turned light and sleety again, typical. Need some heavier showers really, like what a streamer can produce. The convection causes the temperature to drop and the clear spells in between showers make whats come out of the sky freeze, ready for the next hefty shower to come in. Thats my theory anyway for what its worth.
  11. There must be a fair bit of snow up on higher ground on the moors though I would of thought?
  12. You couldn't make it up, the wet snow heavy now and trying to settle!
  13. Lower dew points were expected to move back up from northern France this evening.I'm not expecting much but you never know, it's not over yet.
  14. Reminds me of the very late Feb/early March easterly from about 10 years ago, snowed everywhere but although the hill tops were full of snow there was absolutely nothing lower down. The North sea second wave blob seems to be taking a similar route to wave one, some of the models show this PPN as being somewhat heavier though.
  15. Heavier bands of snow now moving out from Essex towards Faversham-Maidstone and Orpington-Croydon areas.
  16. Yes its very strange, I expected settling snow widely from this too away from the coasts at any rate...Had -10/-11c uppers 1st thing and dew points under 0.
  17. Should do well for some settling snow out of this at your altitude there. Maybe I should just drive to a big hill near by if I want to throw a snowball or two, Bluebell hill, Shooters Hill might be ok.
  18. Seems to me that they have had some super mild AGW freaks on duty the last couple of days. Latest uppers on 06z euro4. Dp's 0-1c, looks ok for the rest of today to me for more snow not rain even if it don't settle its still snow.
  19. Quite nice snow now from the blob..... but its melting all the snow that settled over night!! Am I dreaming??? Hey can someone confirm that we are in early/mid February, and not April, or, October mmmmm? And that upper air is about -9c?
  20. There were blizzards in Tasmania not long ago, better snow than we have had for a long time. Google it yh.
