  1. Another very spring-like day here in London (IMO). Bright and calm, feeling very pleasant in the sun. I can't say I've observed buds and leaves appearing this much this early before. All of the daffodils are out. I wish they'd bring the clocks going forward, forward a month in line with February being the new March as it seems
  2. This is an interesting observation and mirrors the thoughts I've had to a tee which shows it may be on to something! I've thought of these as mini 'subseasons' such as the predictability of a false spring in February followed by a second winter in March. Then the end of September being another one. Also, the late November and early December cold spells followed by mediocre winters are apparent too. It's strange, I wonder what causes these or if we just notice these interseasonal episodes more because they highlight the first noticeable changes?
  3. Really feels like Spring has begun now (and I'm out of an apparent posting-hibernation). Sunday and Monday were quite pleasant in the sun, and noticing the increased warmth and brightness from the sun too. Then today was something else. Don't think we reached a temperature that high here last year until the very end of April!! Does anyone know the official max for today and where? Hopefully this will be a taste of things to come as I'm ready for spring official now - although winter tends to have one final sting some time around the end of Feb or early March.
  4. Been a funny old week here. Woken up every morning to see the ground wet, but it's already dried out and brightening up. Then every afternoon has been filled with glorious blue skies for a good chunk. Got caught in a hailstorm on a walk yesterday afternoon but either side was lovely. It feels like a different world to others who seem to be experiencing near constant deluge and little to no sun. Even the winds have been almost non-existent. Leaves starting to turn now so all in all feeling very seasonal.
  5. This October has given me a bit of everything I would've wanted so far. Some warmth to start, then a mixture of crisp/pleasant sunshine with chilly mornings, and some storminess. Today is stunning - 16c with mostly blue skies and calm conditions. I feel like I've missed the rain when it's happened, only needed an umbrella/hood a couple of times. Definitely don't want months of dreary greyness but if ever there were a time to embrace the wind and rain (coming this week) it's the second half of autumn! Time to carve pumpkins and get cosy
  6. Really interesting looking through that table. I'd bag the 1771-1800 - amongst the coldest winters and summers that sit between 1961-1990 & 1971-2000. Was there perhaps a more continental influence at that time?
  7. 11.8c and 77mm please. Lovely warm first half, stormy middle, cooler settled end.
  8. I came to see if anyone else was witnessing this storm. Haven’t seen anything like it for a very long time. Non-stop lighting up of the sky!
  9. Definitely agree with the consensus on here that June was great (10 for me) July was pretty poor (3) and August was alright (5.5), would've been 6 but the BH weekend just took it down a notch. If July had even a short heatwave in the second half of the month I think I'd regard this summer as one to remember. I do consider May and September an extended summer period so overall I'm satisfied with this year.
  10. Just remember . . . One final push through this weekend. We got this (hopefully)
  11. It depends what we get with November. If it's a mix of pleasant, crisp clear days/nights and some fierce storms, I love it!
  12. Most years summer goes by way too quickly, like a wonderful dream you don't want to wake up from but suddenly the alarm clock's going and it's the end of September haha. (Disclaimer: I love autumn too).
  13. It really is this year! It must have been less of a drag this year with it being a bit milder no?
  14. Is it just me or has July felt like the longest month ever? I can't believe we still have 4 days of it after this. I guess time flies and all that . . .
  15. Lovely day today bar a bit of cloud building around midday. Tomorrow looks like a proper summer's day too, luckily I'm off so will be making the most of that! From tomorrow evening though definitely some dicey-ness to contend with but looking like a bit more hope for improvements throughout next week.
  16. I don't understand what you mean sorry?
  17. That's the thing, it's not blind if you do your research, which I really do urge you to do (and I say this in the friendliest way possible). Get your data from scientific journals, not some guy on the internet too.
  18. I am indeed. I won't deny it. Being triggered is a reaction to something. If I were not triggered and remained placid then that would be accepting the idiocy of such a comment. It can be difficult to have to constantly defend science for the greater good of people you're correct, because sadly we live in a world where there is a lot of ignorance which actually is dangerous to our species' survival. But, I find comfort in remembering I have an IQ higher than that of a chicken so there's that
  19. Apology accepted. Good luck out there . . .
  20. Yes they are wrong (not they they exist legitimately). Put your head in the sand all you like if it makes dealing with reality easier for you, but please stop spreading misinformation. 97% of scientists agree that the climate is changing. The other 3% also agree that it is changing but that they need more evidence to be fully convinced it is all anthropogenic. I learned that during one of my degrees.
