  1. I'm gonna go for 12.1C and 90mm Looking like a fairly pleasant and settled start to the month for many but maybe a month of 2 halves?
  2. I'd say it hasn't been too bad this September. I'm used to it being reliably dry, calm and warm but this year is notably different. It's felt quite tropical at times, even compared to summer with the humidity. Yesterday was a gorgeous day in the end and there have been a few other days like that too. Not quite ready to say goodbye to the warmth, though the upcoming slightly chillier/hopefully sunnier spell I'm looking forward to. One thing I love about this time of year is how the sun just has that real pleasantness to it.
  3. That doesn't surprise me, it's felt like a classic. I wonder what the differences locally will be though too. I imagine London for example will have fared a lot better, even relative to average, than places further North and West. The CET doesn't always reflect those regional extremes. I imagine 1976 stood out more than other hot summers because there hadn't been one like that for a much longer time (1975 aside). They've been increasingly frequent since then really. Edit: Also noteworthy, this will be the 5th year in a row with a +17.5c month. 2 this year as well. Definite representation of the changing climate.
  4. This summer has almost felt like a reverse 2018 (although this June was slightly more consistently better than that August). The 40c certainly added an edge to it too. Will be interesting to see what the official stats are for the summer as a whole. June and July weren't quite as hot as 2018, but this August may tip it into overall record breaking territory I would imagine, for this area anyway.
  5. It is really concerning. It seems like they throw out a wild new figure every day. £6000 energy bills (can't remember exactly where I read this, hopefully was an extreme estimate) would put even comfortable earners in a tricky financial situation. If the government actually taxed the right people maybe we could fund ourselves through the next couple of years. Somehow I don't see that happening with this lot though . . . I really really do want to see some snow this winter, even if it's just for a day. The rest can be a mix of mild/sunny and frosty. Either way our building is constantly heated (yes, even in 40c heat) so we have no choice BUT to pay for constant hot water usage. We won't have to put on the under floor heating luckily for that reason but it's going to rocket regardless.
  6. I'll go for 15.0c and 68mm ppt please I can see an unsettled spell but feel it won't be too potent. Nothing major in terms of heat but relatively warm and settled after that.
  7. Noticed on my walk to work today how much fresher everything is. I always find this time of year/September feels almost 'spring like' with things starting to feel a bit more lush again and the slightly shorter days. Appreciating the sun being back today but also grateful we did manage a good amount of rain yesterday too. Here's to a pleasant and sunny bank holiday weekend! Cheers
  8. After a glorious weekend here, it is feeling like a bit of a grey week. Muggy and overcast weather doesn't take too long to feel a bit glum. It does look like it will get progressively sunnier through the week to the weekend though. Just have to try and make the most of the brief breaks in the cloud until then!
  9. 17.9C and 60mm please Feel like there will be a continuation of the sunny, warm/hot and dry conditions until around the last third of the month where it all breaks down.
  10. Enjoying this brief respite just before what looks to be a very warm weekend (possibly hot Sunday?). Very pleasant today with a bit of sun poking through the clouds. Still no rain here after the couple of light showers we had Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. The Olympic park is looking more like the Savannah! But I won't complain because the rain will surely return with a vengeance, hopefully in October . . .
  11. Thank you! haha Yeah I agree, it's funny how different 27c feels today in comparison to other years when it may have been one of the warmest days of the summer. Certainly the best since 2018 and if the rest of July and August carry on like this it wouldn't be far off that either. We shall see I guess! Definitely a swap round from last year where the North was the place to be, so I do hope they are more fortunate for the rest of this summer too.
  12. Thank you for the welcome! I will make sure to do that
  13. Hi all, First post on here although I have been stalking these forums for a few years now Not sure if there is somewhere else I can properly introduce myself? After this heatwave I just had to finally create an account and join in with the fun! I have to say, down here this summer is turning into one of the greats. It's crazy how normal these kinds of temperatures and extended heatwaves feel now. Almost expecting summers like this these days.
