  1. Something tells me this is going to be an "almost but not quite" winter pattern-wise, with a stubborn block to our east persisting for much of the time but never quite managing to extend west enough to bring us any cold or even settled weather. Indeed, with the block staying put to our east but with an active Atlantic to our west all the block will do is ensure low pressures stall over or near the UK giving very wet, unsettled weather. Just my thoughts.
  2. Rain, rain, rain. The "changeable" weather sure seems stuck in a rut doesn't it.
  3. Some hints of a change in the models, according to the model thread. Dare I say there's some stirrings of a transition to more wintry weather in time for early December? No, probably not. Maybe?
  4. There's certainly some memorable weather for me in 2013. The cold late winter and spring, the hot fortnight in July, and most memorable the severe gales we had in late December. 2013's one of the more memorable years weather-wise IMO.
  5. January: Generally mild and dry, with high pressure dominatant across the south. More mobile and westerly across northern areas with strong winds at times. Turning very windy late on. February: Stormy for most, with severe gales widespread. Generally mild but with some brief cold interludes possible across northern Scotland. March: Mostly wet and mild, and quite dull. South-western areas wettest with slow-moving lows near to the west of the UK. Drier but still mild further north. April: Cold and blustery with frequent northerly winds. Snow widespread at times especially across northern and eastern coasts. Sunny further west but cool. May: Cool and unsettled at first, drier and more settled later and warming up. June: Starts dry and warm but turns cooler and thundery mid-month. Drier with average temps late on. July: Very warm at times especially in western areas. Further east cooler, cloudier weather possible. Turning hot widely later. August: Hot at first, with a breakdown by mid month. Second half generally dull and showery but still above average temps. September: Dull and humid to start off with, with wetter, cooler weather by mid month. Drier later with some warm weather possible. October: Warm for the first half and dry, with record sunshine totals widely. Second half turns much cooler but still sunny at first with frosts possible. Wet and cold to end. November: Cool, wet weather to start but turning much milder for most of the rest of the month. Wet throughout. December: Mild, wet and stormy with rainfall records being threatened. Damaging gales over the festive period and into New Year.
