  1. Jonnoramo87 You really going to write off the whole of summer 2024 because of one long range forecast? Dude they can't even accurately predict the weather in 2 weeks time, let alone months. SunnyG "We ain't looking for things to go wrong" With all due respect mate that's exactly what you are doing
  2. Lots of strikes now coming from that cell in the North sea, anybody who lives in the middle of Mablethorpe and Grimsby may have a shout (providing it doesn't die out) as it appears it is making a v line straight towards that area.
  3. SunSean Fair doesn't come into it, I tell you why it has been this pattern since spring 2023, spring 2023 was ruined by the late SSW and then El Nino kicked in after that which fires up the jet and we've been in El Nino since then and we have had another late SSW this year which has ruined this spring as well. It hasn't got anything to do with unfairness, it is just the way nature has been recently.
  4. Useless weather today, just drab, dreary and cold. Thankfully next week is looking nice with a thunderstorm mixed in hopefully but I'm not holding me breath
  5. I don't think I witnessed that, I might've been unlucky and got a gap. I know if I did get it, I would remember it. I remember having a huge night time storm in 2015.
  6. I wouldn't call myself a heat hater but I defo find it uncomfortable sometimes more so when the humidity is high but this year has been great for heat haters so far, not so good for people who like it (check out the moans thread for proof)
  7. In Absence of True Seasons They ought to look at the weather forecast before they come.
  8. East_England_Stormchaser91 I can't remember that
  9. TJS1998Tom Today was never gonna be good to be honest except for a select few up North that have seen and are seeing some pretty hefty thundery showers. The main storms of this event was the other night down south, we've missed out in our parts, our turn next time hopefully.
  10. Wow a small but really intense thundery shower has developed just north of Newcastle upon Tyne, seems a cluster of them has developed up North, whereas here the weather couldn't be more boring and dull if it tried, drizzle, chilly and just complete nothingness. Hideous.
  11. I don't think today will be that special for most places, for the south it is the bog standard rain that you get throughout winter and up north a few sharp showers and sunshine.
  12. I would avoid the moans thread if I were you fellow midlanders, I get it's the place to moan but people are taking the mick in that thread, constantly doom and gloom, it does me head in. Weather is a hobby, enjoy it for what it is. Anyway 2nd lovely day on the trot here.
  13. Summer8906 It doesn't mean it will verify though, the weather is notoriously hard to predict, no amount of technology can 100% guarantee what the weather will be beyond a week at least.
  14. Summer8906 Write off May? After 2 days? What nonsense
  15. A cell has developed south west of me, hopefully things kick off around my parts soon
  16. A few very light showers near my location and a decent electrical storm in Wales but other than that nothing is really happening, let's see how things develop throughout the rest of the afternoon
  17. B87 Highly likely to breach 50mm for your area if the latest GFS run is anywhere near accurate
  18. A cell has popped up near Norwich, I am hoping I am in for a shout today. Had one thunderstorm this year in a form of a squall line in April which was cool but nothing like some here have experienced last night.
  19. Beautiful day today, not a bad start to May at all. Maybe this month can save this spring from being a total depression. Some have had a very good thunderstorm event last night so that goes towards this being a decent month.
  20. No, the reasoning is because we have had copious amounts of rain over the past year and when we reached 40.3 in 2022, it was very dry beforehand so I will bet we won't get to that benchmark this year. Next year? Who knows.
  21. Very potent storm developed in the channel, as predicted it is travelling NWW so I think the isle of wight will be in the firing line of that me thinks.
  22. B87 Remember the dry period between 2010 until April 2012? Another example is 1975-1976 and 2018 was particularly dry. The thing is we are gonna have prolonged wet and dry periods from time to time, that is the law of averages.
  23. B87 Acceptable is the word you'd use to describe someone's attitude/ behaviour or a persons work effort or work they've produced, not to describe the weather. Anyhow even in a warming world we cannot expect hot summers every year and 24-29.9c throughout the whole summer would put the CET way above average which is just not feasible with law averages. I am hoping for a cold but dry summer. I have had enough of insane heatwaves every year.
  24. Blimey that is one beast of a storm over Paris, it's now starting to come into view on the radar.
  25. I am actually hoping we don't see 30 degrees being reached this year but the answer to the question would be I predict 25 degrees being reached later this month.
