  1. I would avoid the moans thread if I were you fellow midlanders, I get it's the place to moan but people are taking the mick in that thread, constantly doom and gloom, it does me head in. Weather is a hobby, enjoy it for what it is. Anyway 2nd lovely day on the trot here.
  2. Summer8906 It doesn't mean it will verify though, the weather is notoriously hard to predict, no amount of technology can 100% guarantee what the weather will be beyond a week at least.
  3. Summer8906 Write off May? After 2 days? What nonsense
  4. A cell has developed south west of me, hopefully things kick off around my parts soon
  5. A few very light showers near my location and a decent electrical storm in Wales but other than that nothing is really happening, let's see how things develop throughout the rest of the afternoon
  6. B87 Highly likely to breach 50mm for your area if the latest GFS run is anywhere near accurate
  7. A cell has popped up near Norwich, I am hoping I am in for a shout today. Had one thunderstorm this year in a form of a squall line in April which was cool but nothing like some here have experienced last night.
  8. Beautiful day today, not a bad start to May at all. Maybe this month can save this spring from being a total depression. Some have had a very good thunderstorm event last night so that goes towards this being a decent month.
  9. No, the reasoning is because we have had copious amounts of rain over the past year and when we reached 40.3 in 2022, it was very dry beforehand so I will bet we won't get to that benchmark this year. Next year? Who knows.
  10. Very potent storm developed in the channel, as predicted it is travelling NWW so I think the isle of wight will be in the firing line of that me thinks.
  11. B87 Remember the dry period between 2010 until April 2012? Another example is 1975-1976 and 2018 was particularly dry. The thing is we are gonna have prolonged wet and dry periods from time to time, that is the law of averages.
  12. B87 Acceptable is the word you'd use to describe someone's attitude/ behaviour or a persons work effort or work they've produced, not to describe the weather. Anyhow even in a warming world we cannot expect hot summers every year and 24-29.9c throughout the whole summer would put the CET way above average which is just not feasible with law averages. I am hoping for a cold but dry summer. I have had enough of insane heatwaves every year.
  13. Blimey that is one beast of a storm over Paris, it's now starting to come into view on the radar.
  14. I am actually hoping we don't see 30 degrees being reached this year but the answer to the question would be I predict 25 degrees being reached later this month.
  15. damianslaw Oddly enough I live near to that isolated brown patch in the Rutland area on that anomaly map and that makes sense because I recorded 36mm for this month so not very wet here at all but countrywide for sun and dry weather lovers it has been hideous seeing Aprils tend to be decent.
  16. Very small but sharp shower has kicked off south of Bedford, not sure if it will produce lightning though
  17. Yet another wet month bagged, Spring 2024 pretty much guaranteed to be wetter/much wetter than average unless May 2024 is remarkably dry which I can't see happening
  18. Yep definitely feeling summer like here, clouds are starting to bubble up, humidity is building. As other members have said, someone is going to get a humdinger of a storm, it's a case of luck in this instance.
  19. Absolutely stunning day here, warm sunshine, very light to no breeze and not a cloud in the sky and even the possibility of a few storms in the next few days. Good stuff.
  20. Same here, can't get access to the radar. It would be bloody typical if we get a proper storm event the only time the radar is down
  21. ukv looking absolutely fantastic for storm lovers on the isle of wight and indeed the majority of the south coast west of London, for the majority I think it'll be dry. This event is gonna be a far south event me thinks.
  22. Alderc 2.0 I respect your preference of that absurd temperature and I ain't gonna guilt trip you but I am not sure how anyone can want mid 40's anywhere let alone in this country, I'd rather have 12 months of rain tbh but that's just me
  23. 13.3 and 21mm, perhaps me being a bit too over the top in terms of dryness but it has to flip some time and when it does it is usually instant for example the record wet February 2020 and the very dry, sunny spring that followed it.
  24. Latest ukv looking juicy for potential storms for those in the area around Birmingham on Thursday 2nd May, slightly too far south and west for me (highly unlikely to verify like that anyways) but something to keep an eye on for sure.
