  1. I saved all the netweather radar images from this supercell and put them into a video... This covers 6 hours from 12:20 to 18:20
  2. I'm seriously thinking of heading east tomorrow, for what would be my first proper UK chase. Being quite close to the main risk area, I'm hoping I can wait for initiation before leaving. At the moment looks like heading towards south Humberside or North Lincolnshire might be best, but obviously that could all change.
  3. Doesn't look that great on radar, no sferics, and it looks like it's heading right at you anyway. Nice pic though. Looks like the big storm near Dublin is hooking slightly on it's tail.
  4. That video is amazing! Thanks for sharing. I've uploaded the radar sequence from 12:20 onwards to YouTube, the quality wasn't good enough on here.
  5. I've saved all the Netweather radar images from 12:20 onwards and put them together in a short video. I know the radar has it's own animation, but even on the fastest setting it's a bit slow. Produce_0.mpg Quality isn't that good, had to keep it under 4mb.
  6. Wow nice, I've never seen hail fog in the UK before. I'm desperate for a good storm here but it's just not happening. Did you get any pics?
  7. Wow that cell just north of Oxford is still going strong, and has gained intensity on the last couple of updates. Rainfall rates of up to 200mm/hr under that, and still plenty of sferics, nice! Just wish it wasn't so cloudy here, I think I would have been able to see the top of that storm from here if it was clearer.
  8. Not too far outside the Estofext level 1 here in Nottingham, so with the lack of action here so far, I'll definitely be keeping a close eye on things tomorrow. Hoping Nick will put out a convective forecast for Netweather too.
  9. Might come to this with my girlfriend. We have a bit of experience of camping. If we can do it on the North York Moors in February in gales and sleet I'm sure we can manage on the south coast in July! I need to make sure I can afford it nearer the time, but I would definitely like to go. I've never been anywhere on the south coast apart from Dover.
  10. Yeah I noticed that, especially in this chart... 20C spread from N England to S England... WOW!!! I don't think I've seen such a contrast at any range on the charts.
  11. I guess you are referring to tour 3 2009? I loved every minute of it, and it was a very quiet pattern with only slight risks and 'see texts' but you and Nick got us on storms every day! Hopefully something similar can happen this time, if things do go quiet over there for the early tours.
  12. Never had any heating on here since we moved in last July and even had the windows open at times during winter. Its a really warm flat, we are south facing on the 3rd of 5 floors so it's always warm here. For example now it's 22C, it rarely gets below 18C even with the window open. It's bad in summer though, on sunny days it's easily over 30C and sometimes up to 35C, and even at night I've know it to be still around 30C after midnight, so not pleasant for sleeping!
  13. I stumbled across this great website a few days ago, and I thought it would interest people on here... http://www.farsondigitalwatercams.com It has live river cams on loads of rivers and it's been so interesting to watch the levels over the last few days. When you are on a cam, you can go to 'Gallery' and go back through previous hours and days and see how the levels have changed hour by hour.
  14. Sooooooo jealous of all the people getting storms! I can't wait to have a go at some UK lightning photos, it's been a long time since I've had the chance to try and I'm feeling rusty! Any chance they will survive into the Midlands and up near Nottingham? I'm not building my hopes up but they are on the right track. Hope some of you can get some pics and share them
  15. Tomorrow seems like a good day to go to Alton Towers then, should be right in the main risk area there in Staffs. We've got to go tomorrow anyway, got free tickets. It could be a painful experience being on a rollercoaster in a hail storm lol.
  16. Has anyone got any good webcam links around that bow-echo? I can't find anything decent. Also I hope some of you can get some photos or videos, I would love to see what it looks like in reality rather than just on radar. Looks like I'll have to make do with watching others have the fun again today, but anyway I've had my moan in the no storms club.
  17. Early storm just east of Liverpool has produced a couple of sferics already. It's a long way off Nottingham but it's heading this way. Hopefully on the 5th day of waiting I might finally see something here, but I think my home in County Durham would be a better place to be today especially with the wind convergence up there.
  18. Long time since I've been out of bed at 5am. Impressive 12 hour rainfall totals, looks like up to 80mm has fallen... I wouldn't be surprised if there was some flooding around that area.
  19. Yes I am very envious of the wind convergence you will have over the next two days, that should really help things up there. Wish I was home this weekend I would love to have done some long timelapses, the cloud movement should be really interesting. Still chances here over the next few days but after the last few days of disappointment I won't be building my hopes up. Good luck up there though! Going back to this area of rain I mentioned earlier, it intensified again in the same area, and still remains sitting in around the same place just north east of Nottingham. Here is the radar showing accumulation for the last 12 hours, maybe 40-50mm, most of it in the last 4 hours. Showing no signs of stopping still.
  20. Been watching the radar for a while now and there is some very heavy rain staying around the same area just north and north west of Nottingham. Its losing intensity a little now but there must be some high rainfall totals under that, it's been around for at least 2 hours. No storms again here today, and there has been none all week. Just one heavy rain and hail shower earlier.
  21. Here's the cell that just passed north of Birmingham and is heading this way... I've been watching it for a while now, but it's lost some intensity on radar and also has had no recent sferics. It still looks very menacing though, so I'm not losing hope yet.
  22. Looking good here now with 2 anvils to the W/SW... And a storm passing by to the south... The big anvil looks to be heading right this way
  23. Just looking through the 18z GFS charts and looks like storms are possible every day for about the next 7 days! Most at risk are southern and central parts of the UK, and for my area, Thursday looks best at the moment. So hopefully many of us will get some storms in the next few days
  24. Wow that's amazing! Not been a good day here today, just 2 distant rumbles heard. Most of the action was west then east of here, and the shower that did actually hit bang on had lost a lot of it's intensity. Cloudy with moderate rain now. Oh well maybe next time!
  25. New developing area just north east of Wolverhampton has really exploded in just the last 10 mins! Looks like it will pass to the east of Birmingham. The shower approaching Nottingham is now very close, but there have been no new sferics for almost 1 hour so I'm not expecting anything too exciting, just very heavy rain.
