  3. La crosse are good for starters like me for example, and are at very good prices, although i think there is a new better model just come out..

  9. I must admit the la crosse models are good for the money, i have the WS2500, very good but update rate is a bit slow. But for the moeny it does exactly what i want. Although a few minor interference problems with the temp sensor all else is going good. Good luck with your station
  10. Have you tried manually spinning the wind sensor to see if anything responds, as for resetting the display unit, take the batteries out and unplug from mains, and then after about 10 seocnds replace the batteries and plug back into mains, you may loose the baromic pressure for a couple of hrs when it re-adjusts, but its worth a try.
  11. Hi, the --- means that the reciever has not recieved data from the sensor since the last update. Now if it is not doing anything i would suggest first of all unplug the reciever from the mains and remove the batteries. This should reset the unit and it will look for the sensors in a sync mode (i have the ws2500 wireless so it should use same princible). Also check that the sensor channel is set correctly within the unit. Are your other readings O.K as it may be an error in the temp reciever, or you may be picking up static from a surafce touching the cable. Have you tired using it wirelessly and is it connected to your pc?
  12. I recon although still a lively year, we wont see as many USA landfalls, and a few less severe hurricanes in the atlantic basin.
  13. Very light snow for most of morning and into afternoon here.
  14. Wood sounds good, paint it white and tha\t should be good enough. i Personally would make some sort of box with a computer fan attached to the side to keep the reading true.
  15. (Just to add what Paul has said) I wouldnt have thought that you would get 25 knot wind for a long period other than gusts in low pressure systems on occasions, so i would say that it should be O.k, sounds like an interesting project, keep us posted.
  16. Difficult choice but i think for seasonal MCT is closetest so he gets my vote All others quite good though.
  17. 2.7c 78% 1033 - stable 0.9mph east dew -0.7 oh and another nice sunset (see it here)
  18. Here in worcs, it doesnt seem that far off normal, in the last 5 years we have had so little snow here it doesnt make a difference anymore. Although i would agree on the whole, that the u.k has seen more dry cold days than normal.
  19. Hi, i personally use a Sony digital 8 camera for my webcam but it is indoors pointing west, i would say your best option would be argos. Go for something with at least 640-480 resolution, but these are for indoors only, it also means you can access the camera should anything go wrong.
