  1. Hi Paul, i just had an idea about a possible addition to the website. Theres quite a few people with weather stations now, why not have a U.K map, showing the conditions at the different weather stations. When you hover over the station it gives a few more in depth readings such as Wind speed etc. Just a thought though, i know people with W/D can upload a METAR from which you can show the data by using a symbol or something similar. Heres an example of what it could look like (when you hover over certian dot, for different location):
  2. This is a good question, my mast goes up to about out 31ft, it is attached to my roof and is about half a meter highter than everything else including the near by houses and their chimneys, this is because i wanted good reliable readings. Anyway, i have not yet earthed it, but i should as it is likely to get hit, being on an aluminium 7ft pole, and being higher than all the other houses. But to earth it all you need to do is attach some copper wire and make a spike that is higher than your pole, so the lightning strikes that first. Then route is safely to earth, basically wire it up to the ground, making sure it satys well away from anything that could get damaged, and you should be O.K then.
  3. There all great but 7 does it for me - Great Picture

  6. Hi all, its a question really for someone who knows how to use the software, but my current conditions on my custom display (in my signature) never really says what is happening now, like for a few hours its been saying Stopped raining, is there anywhere i can alter values for diplaying different messages, also can it say things like cloudy and overcast. Cheers.
  7. Temp : 8.1 Due Point: 7.3 Humid: 95% Wind: 8.2 mph, S Rain 0.0 last hour Pressure 991, Falling
  8. I have mine on a pole, the actual sensor is about half a meter above my lower roof, doesnt seem to be giving out wrong readings at the mo, actually seems spot on with the nearest airfield.
  9. Hi, i mounted my wind sensor on top of my roof this morning, on a 7ft aluminium pole, at this height it is above my chimney and all other obstructions. I had to face mine south so that the device can use that as a reference to the wind direction not sure if yuors is the same?. Also not if you want a good reading (clear reading) then mount it as high as you can others you can get swirls and eddies around any object close to the sensor. the atual height of the sensor is about 30ft. Hope that helps, Andy

  19. Hi all, i hope your all having a great xmas, certianly very full after the christmas diner today . Well i finally recieved my first weather station today, the La crosse WS2500. Its up and running now, just have to find a large pole to put the wind meter on. Its allready feeding my interest in the weather and i have only had it on a couple of hours. Really simple to set up, and completely wireless, although i am having trouble with the weather display 32 software as its not very user friendly, but getting there. Hopefully you should be able to see my Weather information soon on my webpage (Data will update every 15mins), slightly dissapointed with the rarther slow update rate but none the less a great gift that i will probably be staring at for a good many hours. All the best, Andy
  20. im getting the WS 2500 (wireless 433mhz), one of my mates has it also, and he has had no problems whats so ever, no bugs. So i am looking forward to predicting my own weather soon.
  21. Try this website : UK WEATHER SHOP This is where iam getting my La Crosse from, if you want good value for money and features i strongly suggest la crosse over Davis. Heres the one i am getting: Here (Bottom one)
  22. Hi, i have also just purchased a weather station from La Crosse, being a newbie topwards weather stations i first looked for a product that did exactly what i wanted and compared with price. First off all think about what readings you want to et from it, i.e Rainfall, Wind etc. I have just looked at the W/S you have thought about and have found it to only give you windspeed and temperature readings, but if you want a basic option to see wind and temperature it looks O.K. But if you want to be able to monitor your local weather by taking readings of all the elements then you will have to go with a more 'upmarket' weather station. Also note if you can connect it to a computer, as this can be very useful esp. when you want to display your weather on the internet. Hope that helps
