  1. Thanks. The unexpected snowfall is always best Having said that it was fairly brief, very light now. Still possibilities of further snow in the near future.
  2. Snowing well here. -1.6C. Good covering developing on my estate away from the gritters.
  3. Anyway, back to the GFS 18z output. Short term ppn distribution is looking promising (particularly considering when this model consistently has a poor grasp of the spread). The longer term is a more likely evolution, the low struggling to penetrate such established blocking.
  4. WooHoo. After today's spell of snow I now have an inch of snow  The roads on my estate are a nightmare and I had to leave the car at the bottom of the road. Much better. Now for some major snowfall and extreme cold. Let's make this a cold spell to remember.
  5. I can't even begin to get fed up with it until we receive a decent covering and some very low temps that are seldom seen. My view of this cold spell is just bits and pieces of previous recent winters all placed together.
  6. 25 miles south of you got 1cm lol. Still, so much more potential over the coming days. I need one decent fall though for this cold spell to really leave a mark. Yes, the length has been exceptional but the snow has been poor (on a personal view).
  7. My weather rod is certainly picking up some positive signals for good times ahead
  8. It's hard to call. No idea to be honest. All models are struggling with entire PPN bands. Imagine the difficulty with hit-and-miss showers. I'm afraid it's just going to be a nowcast a thing, but i'll be looking everyday in to next week.
  9. I know. 4 inches in Cov and Hinckley (only 10 miles away). We have been unlucky. I'm still hopeful that, should this snow event not deliver, showers will feed in later this week <_<
  10. Yeah...not looking brilliant south of Birmingham. It's starting to shape and pivot. The mostly light and scraggy ends of the PPN will die away and it'll hold a while before sinking slowly south.
  11. Could do with the PPN shifting a bit more northwards, but its a struggle. Still have barely 1cm on the ground. Snizzle not helping.
  12. I know what you mean. Frustratingly capturing just the scraggy ends of the PPN.
  13. The main stuff to the south is on its way here. Fine flakes at the moment, but plenty of them.
  14. Snow getting going in Northants yet ? Not too far away from me now.
  15. Yeah. One guy at work got a call from his wife saying the snow was pretty bad in Coventry and her car was stuck. We were all laughing at work thinking she was joking because there's just a dusting outside. I'm hopeful that the stuff further south with give us a decent covering. Hope you're enjoying it
  16. Absolutely amazing. Barely a cm here. That's why it's so difficult to forecast snow accurately for any given location, micro differences in no distance at all.
  17. Could be. It's all really up in the air. I think, to avoid disappointment with the ever-changing runs (even at close range), we just need to focus on the nowcasts. Good luck all. Hope somewhere in the midlands at least lands a good dumping !
  18. Rugby, Warks. I imagine I have, for one reason or another, lost my location due to the current forum issues (it happened before). The list of people viewing the thread also disappears. It's most likely to reduce the pressure on the servers.
  19. ...or not so good actually. The PPN has been shunted westwards quite significantly, more just a Northern England, west midlands, Wales and SW England. More central abd eastern midland areas are likely to miss most of the action. Considering my location on the 12Z and looking at the 18Z now, the changes have been ridiculous.
  20. Yes. Can't believe that. Oh well, the excitement was short-lived but fun. I'm not looking at models any more. Just nowcasting. They have no idea.
  21. So fairly persistent light snow initially with things cranking up a notch in to the afternoon, evening and early hours of Wednesday. Bring it on. Let's have some thundersnow for good measure too
  22. Yeah...look at the GFS ppn charts. It starts to move back over much of the midlands and just gets stucks for hours !
  23. I am far too excited, and even if it doesn't happen....oh well. These are the sort of unexpected potential snow events that you absolutely dream of !! Nothing short of spectacularly awesome. RAMP RAMP !! Hope everyone in the midlands gets buried and I have to walk along the canal to get to and from work. Woop.
  24. OMFG...how can you not get excited by Dan Corbett's forecast just for tomorrow. 20-25cm !!! I know that was directed further south, but how long does the snow sit and pivot over central midlands !!!
