  1. Best of luck in Nebraska. You're going to need it. Maybe try and stray just outside the border lol
  2. Wow that's an amzing supercell structure. Would absolutely love to be there in the core too. Epic. I'm in the same position to you Mark, maybe next year if I can save enough money through the first year of uni. Hmm.
  3. Arghhhh...so close. Nobody told me this was going to happen. Barely minutes away and I would have drove in to the bloody thing too. Gutted
  4. Had a brief very heavy hailstorm about an hour ago. I was driving home from work and the pea sized hail was really clattering the windscreen. Quite exciting.
  5. I had never seen Mercury until earlier this week. Should be a good chance of observing it tomorrow in a clearer sky.
  6. Amazing shots guys. Anyone seen Mercury ? I saw it for the first time tonight. It's faint in comparison to Jupiter and Venus and quite low on the horizon, but easily visible just after sunset.
  7. Chilli's is amazing. Miss that place. Even with a relatively uneventful storm period I enjoyed my time exploring the states and visiting the different places in the towns. Good times.
  8. Seriously frigid. Hadn't heard of this frost hollow before this spell, but it's definitely making a name for itself now. -5.0C here. Hoping to beat last night's overnight low of -8.7C and push my all time record of -10.2C (recorded in Dec 2010 - I have only been keeping records for 5 or so years) close.
  9. The precip definitely has some westward movement as some of the heavier pulses have clipped me. I have a fresh covering around 2cm
  10. More moderate snow here now. Dusting developing in to a covering on all surfaces
  11. Very odd how this has turned out. Just hours before the event most of us were worried the whole thing was going to be too far west in Wales. Looks like it's ignored the projected track altogether and defied everyone by staying east and heading south.
  12. Not a great deal happening here. Dry. Temp at -0.5C down from a day time max of 0.2C I'm jealous. Can't recall ever experiencing freezing rain.
  13. It could well be that the precip is so light that it has evaporated before reaches anywhere near the ground. I have seen that happen on a number of occasions.
  14. I have just hit -6C. Should surpass the -7.7C recorded last week.
  15. The temperature has really started to plummet in the last hour or so. -4.1C. Cloud will be spilling in from the east though, so the minimum temperature will be recorded much earlier in the night.
  16. I hate flying too. Had only ever been to Majorca and Ibiza before heading out to Dallas last Spring. It wasn't too bad. Just kept getting up and helping myself to beer lol. Tour 1 was not amazingly active last year, but the first day was epic. Funnels forming in the evening sky and eventually going on to form a tornado after dark. Driving down dark roads, seeing power flashes, and watching trees buckle in the distance as the tornado rips its way across the road in front. Some golf ball sized hail bashed on to the car roof briefly which was fun. Got to see some spectacular light shows throughout the tour too. We drove through 7 different states (4000 miles of travel). Had some great meals out as the food portions are often generous. And everyone gets along just fine as we're all out there for the same reason.
  17. A real shame the fog is not of the freezing variety. It complements the snow wonderfully. Objects can become coated in rime ice and look spectacular. Unfortunately temps have been hovering in the vicinity of 1-3.5C and it's been a slow, slushy thaw. Not so picturesque. Really enjoyed the snow event though. 5 inches is a very good fall and rare for here
  18. I actually quite enjoyed it. The actual storm footage was amazing. The final moments, as the realisation that parts Tuscaloosa were about to be destroyed, I found emotionally powerful.
  19. Just over 5 inches here. The heavier second half of the ppn did the job
  20. Not looking forward to driving off my estate to go to work at 5.40 am. Only down side to a surprisingly high snow level.
  21. Largest flakes of the event so far. 0.3C. Some drifting against the fence.
  22. [Ah, I see. I'm in Hillmorton. Temp has been stuck at 0.2C for some time. Don't want it to go much higher with PPN around.
  23. You must be in the west of Rugby, i'm only about a mile away from the northants border and clinging on to the cold.
