  1. Still mostly rain but can definitely see flakes mixed in
  2. Definitely starting to turn here in Harborne. Big flakes in the rain
  3. 28 January 2004 was unforgettable. 4 inches fell in less than 2 hours. Absolute gridlock in Birmingham and cars abandoned with people walking home
  4. The North West thread reporting very heavy snow even in areas low in altitude
  5. There is definitely potential for a 10 Dec 2017 type event within the next week or so or next weekend
  6. The more I look at the models, I would not be surprised if we have a 10 Dec 2017 type event in the next 10 days or so. Clash of cold air from the N with a jet tracking across the south of the country Maybe I am being overly optimistic but one to watch
  7. My personal thoughts are that Birmingham is in the game tomorrow. Elevation will help. These fronts always struggle to make it east against a block
  8. Potential for a snow event on some of the models for Thursday night. Further east you are the better. But still quite some time away and could disappear altogether
  9. Moderate snowfall now. Seems like showers are cropping up randomly now
  10. Some light snowing falling at the moment to my surprise
  11. Also lot of the West Midlands is high ground (above 150m asl)
  12. A nice dusting of snow here in Harborne. Bodes well for tomorrow- snow should easily settle on top of this. Been a good winter here so far
  13. 28 January 2004: a memorable event. A system swung through from the north which was not really forecast. Thundersnow and a rapid fall of snow. 4 inches fell in the space of 2-3 hours late afternoon. Absolute gridlock everywhere with people having to abandon their cars and walk home. The next day was a snow day
  14. Some beefy showers heading off the North Sea. Are they rain or snow?
  15. I totally agree with this. So much going on in the background that no model has a confident grip on what’s going to happen beyond T72-96
  16. Good covering here in Harborne. I am guessing that about 1 inch has fallen. In the middle of a snow shower now which should last at least another 30-45 mins
  17. There is a big heavyish blob heading southwest. Looks like Wolverhampton and Black Country in the firing line of that
  18. Really? You’re really close to me and nothing here. Which part of Oldbury?
  19. Yep looks like from the radar everything is sliding to the west of Birmingham.
  20. From the radar, it looks to me that the precipitation is heading southwest towards Wales and may miss Birmingham south. Or am I reading it wrong?
