Yet another Thunderstorm here in Banchory, Rumbles continuing for about 30mins. 6th storm in 2 weeks...long may it continue

Hi All, Had a horrendous thunderstorm last night at about 11pm. Some very powerful lightning and thunder. The thunder actually made the house shake. It was torrential rain before it arrived, once the lightning started the rain stopped. The storm lasted about 30mins. Was very nice.

Image of building cloud 5 mins ago here in Banchory, Aberdeenshire. I have a qusetion, this might sound silly but when the lights flicker etc in your office, is this lightning hitting the national grid or something else?

Just wondering what the possibility (if any), there is of activity in Aberdeenshire from the forecasted low. I may be a bit greedy regarding this as we have had 3 days of storms but any info on timescales and likleyhood would be fantastic...

Similar situation here, lights flickering and computers turning off and on. The towers are building at a crazy rate, look at them for 10 mins and they are twice the size...you can actually see growth from small to large in about a 30 min period. All directions have lage towers, especially to the south west.

It feels quite good...i cant remember the last time we had 3 days of thunder. Found this today, the Aberdeen local paper reporting of up and coming Thunderstorms for the remainder of the week, maybe it will be 4 or 5 days... http://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/Article.aspx/1307585

Thunder and lightning here again today, 3rd day on the trot...looks like it is hugging the coast for a change, hopefully it will swing slightly north west and hit Banchory, seems like its over Stonehaven just now.

Another storm just pepping up here with distant thunder, i have a few videos of the storm, one of the best in years. Once i have converted them i will upload them.

I will try, however, i'm at work and i dont know if my boss would appreciate it. I will try when i go for a break. Brilliant storm though. Hope it lasts into the night

update, still going on, sheet lightning with crashes of thunder. clouds are still rotating, they are rotating very quickly, is there a tornado chance for NE scotland? never seen clouds move so quickly...

fantastic lightning storm here in Banchory, lightning for about 30mins, the clouds are actually rotating and is easily visible. the rain drops are very limited but when they fall they are very large. power disturbances in the business centre also.

At last, a Thunderstorm...2 big flashes, 1 turned the power off in the business centre fro a few seconds...very heavy hail and rain!! Keep it coming!!

The amount of heavy showers and massive thunder clouds yesterday turned out to be a huge miss...not even a single rumble!

I was in Cyprus last year and it hadnt rained on the south side of the island for nearly 2 years. You will be lucky to see a cloud in the sky from my recolection of the weather. The whole island ran out of water and it was turned off for the last 2 days of our holiday...a NIGHTMARE

Lots of Snow above 600m this morning looking towards the grampians...looks like a little top up for any patches that may survive...the view was really nice!!

Just thought i'd let you know that as it stands just now...there si still a lot of snow patches in the mountains, i know they will melt quite considerably but my view of the grampians this morning was quite impressive...

Simple fact is that none of us know when its going to happen, 2012 or 3012...either way it will happen, when is the question but why try to figure it our, if we cant predict the weather properly how are we going to predict this...at best we'd have 48 hours notice...the guy that wrote that article must have been watching 'Knowing', the fact is that since we do depend on electricity, it would be very stupid of us all to think we are untouchable because we definately arent, i'm convined something very very major will happen in my lifetime and i wouldnt be surprised if it happend within the next 10 years or so

Had a lot of heavy snow showers here today, settled for about 30mins but quickly melted...very blustery in the snow showers!! Whats going on with the weather?? 18oC on Friday to snow on monday!!

I thouht the programme was pretty rediculous to be perfectly honest. The fact that there as 6" of snow and the country was portrayed as a bit of a joke in being able to handle it... I laughed through the majority of it and for some reason or another i found myself getting angry at how it was reported and how is was dispayed as being the most serious thing that has ever happend to the UK...all i hope is that it wasn't broadcast to countries that actually get 'SNOW'...

Interesting, however, i'm going to presume this is all speculation and sounds decidedly similar to every other year!!!

The phone box picture was on the A95 between Grantown-On-Spey and the A9. The snow started to fall on the Friday and didn't stop until the saturady at 430pm. The end result was about 30" of snow.

Between Stonehaven and Aviemore. On my way home! The 4th picture of the flat laying snow is a completely frozen Loch Morlich...an amazing sight!!!

I have taken the joy of posting pictures of snow around Aberdeenshire over the past few days!! All the snow that you see in the images above has remained, there has also been some significant accumulations since these images were taken.
