  1. Will try to remember this for tonight, hopefully it will be clear
  2. Does anyone seem to know how badly affected Aberdeen was during this storm? Just curious if it would have felt like a bad autumn storm of it would have felt like a hurricane on the east coast?
  3. Not Snow report but heavy sleet report this morning on the Slug Road at Durris, lasted for about 10 minutes!! Just looked on the Cairngorm mountain website and they ahve a lot of snow!! Looks nice, cant believe winter is here again!!
  4. Thanks Blackdown for the post regading the Meteor. Was interesting to find out there were so many other witnesses, the AAS has been in touch with me a few times, for some reason they seem to be taking a lot of interest i this, including directions, degrees of entry, exact time, etc etc!!!
  5. I'm all for saving the planet etc but it doesnt really seem worth while...40,000 homes (666) per turbine, i'd shudder the thought at the expense it will cost to make these and install them!!!
  6. Well the speed that winter sems to be arriving up here over the past fwe weeks i wouldnt be surprised if it was, we are due one, however, the past 2 christmas days have been white up here but white with frost, very hard frost that has lasted all day, not quite the same thing but still very christmassy!!! So on that basis i will say yes the ground will be white but maybe with snow!!!!
  7. Where can i download the episodes? Cant believe i have missed these!!!!!!!!
  8. As i was travelling southbound, the fireball travelled from west to east. I emailed the Aberdeen Astronomical Society with the report and 2 of their members witnessed it also. They informed me that it was likely to be a bt of space junk because it was travelling so slowly, no matter what it was, it was amazing to see.
  9. Do you know how i would get in touch with a local one near Aberdeen?
  10. A bit off topic but does anyone know if there was any meteor shower forecast last night? Its just i was driving down the A90, south from Aberdeen at about 10pm and there was a massive meteor, it was green and the tail was right across the sky, it broke up and loked like it was going to hit because it was still lit as it approachd the horizon, lots of people saw it becaue a lot of them put their brakes on...it was the biggest meteor i have ever seen and took quite sometime to cross the sky...anyone know anything?
  11. Well all i have to say to this topic is that if we are about to go through a mini ice age, i sure hope aberdeenshire stays warm because i sure wont manage to afford the gas prices by the time that comes along!!!
  12. Ermmm, i'm a bit concerned about this!!! How can scientists possibly know what the outcome of doing this will be when they have never witnessed it, how can they even imagine when they have no idea....I dont like the sound of this...Mini Black Holes?????? Thats scary!!!
  13. Hey All, I have seen a few Daddy long legs...we also have plenty of Rowan Berries on the trees here...I would have thought it was pretty normal for mid august, especially here is Scotland...Whats not normal is a week of almost constant rain...
  14. Well this morning is the first morning since the end of June that i have actually had to wear a jacket cos when i got in the car i was shivering!!!
  15. Yeah there wouldnt be a shadow i dont think, not claiming to be clued up on this topic but my understanding is that the light is being carried around the object,so i dont think its possible to create a shadow because the object would in essence not have a shape
  16. Sorry its slightly off topic but would i be right in saying that i read recently that because a government agency have recovered and studied shipping data all the way back to the back to the eary 1600's, they are now suggesting that these temperature changes, extreme weather etc etc etc have all occurred before, even more seriously than they are now but minus the pollution factor that we have now?
  17. Not very cost effective though? Maybe we should just erect these turbines without the permission of people, providing its on council land...people want the best of both worlds, they want to see the pretty countryside, yet still want to drive their huge range rovers and pollute the planet...the world is a worrying place to be...
  18. I think that if we can create these things then we should do it...people always look at the negatives of things they are unsure about. Why not advance ourselves...other technologies can come from this and it doesnt need to only be humans that become invisible, there are many things out there that i wouldn't mind seeing hehehe!!!!
  19. Was in Aviemore over the weekend and there are still some fairly large snow patches at CairnGorm. Looks like they will last all winter and hopefully longer
  20. Its still misleading, Scotland is 2/3 the size of England with also a north, south, east and west and the weather is totally different on all sides of the country. Quite often you hear about northern scotland in the winter with its storms and western scotland with its rain and eastern scotland with its sunshine. It would be good if it could atleast be split ih half...maybe north and south. Please....
  21. Thunderstorm with intense lightning pushing north towards Aberdeen. Can see large thunder clouds to the south, looks like there might be more on the way. Weather warnings out on the local radio station for severe thunderstorms affecting the North Sea Coast
  22. Hi Everyone, I was driving home at about 915pm tonight, it is a full moon outside and as i approached my house the rain came on, i drove over the hill and to my amazement i saw a rainbow, the exact shape it would be during the day except slightly duller. Has anyone else seen this before? I was goin to stop and take a picture but my phone camera wasnt good enough to pick it up! Any photos would be great if anyone else has seen this!!
  23. Hey Everyone...Have had a couple of storms here since around the 8th, two of which in the area have been pretty severe. Have a look at these two links... 08/06/07 Lightning Aberdeenshire 1 Lightning Aberdeenshire 2 So all in all not a bad couple of days!!!
