  1. Well Portlethen, where i live has 9" od snow, as photographed earlier. I work in Banchory and they have about 3" max. Thats only 15 miles so it shows just how much of a costal event it was, i would have to guess that looking at the way the band off of Aberdeen is wrapping round, all areas within 10miles of the coast down to about the Forth will get quite a spell of snow. I believe it has started in Ellon, so it wont be long before it tracks slightly further SW and swings south. I'm slightly excited about it, however, we do have our fair share of snow here...wish it was Christmas Eve though!! Picture Postcard material
  2. Hope the NE event pulls off, it could be pretty impressive...all images are pointing towards it making land fall, lets just hope it doesnt cut short
  3. Is it not rolling in off of the east coast like this morning?
  4. Can anyone answer this question as i also would be keen to see the answer, especially regarding the band to the east
  5. There was next to no snow on this table at 10pm last night!!! Now have a look
  6. A huge amount of snow here in aberdeenshire, at least 10" since midnight. Hasn't stopped and the showers look like they are just rolling off the sea, never seen so much snow this time of year. Look at the traffic cam at Portlethen... http://www.trafficscotland.org/lev/
  7. i have my worries too, seems decidedly warmer this morning than it has done recently
  8. any ideas on timescale for it to hit aberdeenshire? Had plenty of snow last night at about 1900. Still got 3 inches on the ground, roads trees etc. Seems to be a slight thaw here on the coast though!
  9. Been snowing here for about an hour, proper heavy snow. Was none at 515pm, now there is at keast 3 inches of snow. Travelled home from Banchory to Portlethen, a usual 20min drive and it took me 50mins. A90 was down to 1 lane both directions, snow lighter now but flakes were about the size of a 50p, looked very similar to the thundersnow of 2006. Long may it continue, will take a picture and upload later when i get home!
  10. Thats a heavy band that will sweep across the country and the showers behind, depending how fast they come in could mean lots of snow...an advisory at least is a must i would say. The Met-o are to focused on SE England where the capital is, why would they bother about the 75 people per square km in scotland?
  11. -2oC here and been snowing lightly for the past hour...
  12. It is pretty light, lets hope the northerly brings down some bigger showers, does anyone have a sat image of cloud to the north of Scotland?
  13. Morning all, chilly, chilly morning! Fingers crossed for the SNOW!
  14. I dont understand, the BBC local weather video for Scotland shows a massive amount of snow for East/Central Scotland on Sat then for the West on Sunday...why is there no warnings for it? This is pretty much a dead cert isnt it? I dont understand it at all. There is so much hype about SE England yet looking on the Sat images, it looks like the big showers are going to miss it completely and flow right down the channel!! Can anyone shed any light on this snow event on Sat and Sun?
  15. lovely, like gettin into a bed with clean ironed sheets hehehe
  16. Yeah we have snow...quite a bit this morning...trusty old aberdeenshire
  17. Exact same here...must be the same showers towards inverurie as we are having here in banchory
  18. plenty of snow here this morning, A90 south bound dangerous south od Stonehaven. Complete whitout on the way to work
  19. You should check cairngorm, -17oC windchill with daytime av at -9oC
  20. Just a quick note...the atmosphere on here has been brilliant the past few days...long may it continue. Snooz...yeah, i've been a tad worried about this but looking at the 12Z charts above fills me with optimisim. Warnings etc at such a range are bound to change...for some reason the NE always gets left out of warnings, almost as if we are just left to deal with it because we get it so much. I would bet that we get a flash warning nearer the time and still wake up to plenty snow!!!
