    The great Arctic storm 2013

Well for most everybody except my town....just ten miles from all the action and some impressive action there is.

    radar

From the album: The great Arctic storm 2013

Yup...all the action of the massive storm starts 10 miles away from me...hey ho lol
  3. Here's the radar...I've tried to show where I live under the 2 horizontal lines and next to the dot (couldn't find an arrow lol) just west of the storm This radar has been like this prob close to 18 hours and just dumping in places...40cm's plus in Pincher Creek.
  4. No problems here - we've had less than 5cm's. All the snow has been about 15 miles to our east and onwards. A normal chilly, windy winter day here, nothing special. -11oC about 30 mins ago....getting colder.
  5. I've experienced -42oC and that was a few minutes and the skin starts to tingle but indoors its nice and warm. Not like in the UK indoors is cold. I think there might be some upsloping with this arctic storm and foothills might get a foot of snow. I wouldn't be surprised to see -25oC day time highs and -35oC night time lows. Finally winter will arrive. Right now its currently 2oC and snow is melting though still have 6 inches in the garden.
  6. As the big storm hitting the eastern side of the US/Canada leaves Thursday/Friday, the western half of Canada looks set to be plunged into some real cold. A possible snowstorm here in western Alberta Sunday looks set to dump upwards of 8 inches of snow with the introduction of cold arctic air and day time highs of -15oC, nightime temps, if clear, down to -30oC. Winter is back after this week of warm 1-2oC temps (10oC in Calgary where the Chinook hit)
  7. -30oC this morning with wind chill of -36oC. You know its cold when the locals start complaining about it.
  8. Just had 8 inches of snow in about 4/5 hours. Extremely heavy snow...rarely see snow that heavy here. Now its cleared temps have dropped to -14oC at 2pm. Here's a vid taken at about noon nov snow.MOV
  9. We had a nice weekend here - no snow and sunny periods. Warmish at about minus 7oC. Very different to your weather
  10. lol - I've experienced plus 39oC and minus 42oC.....huge differences and wouldn't change it for the world.
  11. Just sitting here on a Friday night, nice glass of red in hand and a snowfall warning has been issued for up to 6 inches of snow by this time tomorrow. I've lived here 8 years now, originally born and raised in Kent, and its the certainty of snow in the winter that just makes me smile. Although the fun of will it/wont it snow in England was good there's nothing like getting a snowstorm knowing its not going to be marginal as temperatures are going to drop to minus 20oC. The joys of being connected to the arctic by land. Anyway that's enough of my smug ramblings and if you want to see if the snow hits here check out 7 webcams in town here in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. 12. that was our temp here a few nights ago and now its 3oC....I wonder if Finland have the same wild swings
  13. Oh you'll def enjoy Ross. Is it your first time? If you see the snow on the webcams they are all on major routes so generally there's much more snow that it appears

First snowstorm of the 2013/14 season

10 inches of snow over 26 hours.....not a huge snowstorm but nice to see.
