  1. JP its good to have you back to full strength after being away. I sometimes have no idea what u have posted but it forces me to learn so thank you but often you post in a great, easy to read way....a very valuable asset - thank you :-) As the SE turns colder, so it does here. I will post in the North American thread if we do get the 2 feet of snow forecast. Meanwhile enjoy the cold weather in the SE and keep the pictures coming..... :-)
  2. I do feel the south east will have a stormy year, not based on any technical knowledge, just gut feeling so I will be eagerly looking out for your updates. The size of Poland? wow that's quite the image lol. I'm still dealing with snow here :-(
  3. This got me thinking to see if we had many snowfalls late in the year recently. This might surprise you, it did me... http://metofficenews.wordpress.com/2012/05/15/how-often-does-it-snow-in-may/ Quite shocking so u never know what might happen in the next week. Hopefully not though. Bring on the hot weather and juicy storms. :-)
  4. lol @ Ben Nevis - have a read of the various south east county weather books by Bob Ogley and friends. Amazing some of the snow storms in April in the south east in history. As with all extreme weather though its generally better watching from home. Here I see many lightning strikes hitting the mountains so when I'm hiking and a storm is coming in I run off that mountain as fast as I can lol. I will look forward to seeing some good storms this year in the UK and hope everyone stays safe chasing them
  5. Good to see you back :-) You paint the picture very well. No storms then? I'm enjoying the reports of what appears to be convective weather but just nothing quite enough to get a storm going.....yet
  6. Couldn't agree more, we all hope for our own weather preferences, whether its snow in April or storms in December. That what makes the UK weather so fantastic is that it can happen and why April is IMO one of the best months as you can get everything in this month from blizzards to t-storms. :-)
  7. Hi BJ, As Lassie23 said he was told by other members and the Host in the past to create a thread for off topic posts. I was merely creating an outlet for Abruzzi's obvious talent and following previous instructions. I'm sure it would be appreciated as per previous guidelines and directives in the absence of a host. His talent and the fact it was a great poem isn't in question. I think its important to share in talent in the right avenue. Thank you for your update on the weather - that is why I frequent this thread for the weather, and because I also live part time in the South East so like to connect with like minded people like yourself. If you have any issues I might have missed please feel free to pm me :-) Currently 7oC in North Kent and partly cloudy. Have a great Easter :-)
  8. Hi Abruzzi To maybe save some further disagreements amongst members, I have created a poetry thread. I see you have a talent for the written word, like myself, so feel free to post your poem in here. http://forum.netweather.tv/topic/80070-all-things-poetry/ Very good poem though. I look forward to seeing more from you in the poetry thread :-)
  9. We have a snowfall hear just issued of 10-20cm. I don't think it will be as its very wet from rain this morning. Maybe for the higher elevations.
  10. Still one of your best ;-) I jest of course. Enjoy the sticks. Is it any colder than in the city?
  11. Great quote. One of my favourites from Marquez is from Love in the Time of Cholera: "He was still too young to know that the heart's memory eliminates the bad and magnifies the good, and that thanks to this artifice we manage to endure the burden of the past" Though I do have a fondness for Keats and particularly: "I equally dislike the favor of the public with the love of a woman -- they are both a cloying treacle to the wings of independence." Anyway weather: I miss the south east tropics, so much so I have booked next trip back for August...here's to a 1976 summer.
  12. Back from the glorious weather that Kent had to offer me for over 2 weeks to 6 inches of snow and minus temperatures. Happy Easter
  13. I can't say I've noticed any effects of the pollution/smog walking around London. It might be because I usually live at 4500ft and it feels like I have an abundance of oxygen at sea level.
  14. Blue skies all day here just clouding over a little now. 19.5oC and feeling a bit more humid than late. Simply stunning weather and taking in more scenery from the North Downs
  15. 17.5oC at Docklands, London at 12pm. Just drove back to North Kent and smoggy but still 14oC at 7pm
  16. I'm in London tomorrow, hoping for more nice weather. It was rather pleasant in a light breeze.
  17. From -15oC and blizzard yesterday to +20.5oC today and lots of green in North Kent. Quite the contrast and very nice on the north downs walking in the sunshine.
  18. Hey Alix. Would you be able to name the flowers in the pictures you have taken? I only recognize one or two and curious to know what they are. Nice pic btw :-)
  19. Well what an interesting week. Whilst the city had a week of snow we had absolutely no snow - i'm happy. I cant speak for cheeky monkey though lol
  20. Tell that Global Warming theory to us folk in North America this year lol
  21. Currently sitting down with a beer thinking this time next week I'll be back in the UK and from your pictures it looks so green and like Spring is in the air. I'll be in Kent, Essex, Suffolk and Sussex visiting old friends (well they are not old but...oh you get what I mean lol) and I really hope the warm weather lasts however, from some forecasts here, it looks more likely to be cooling off :-( Here's to changing from white and cold to green and warm....cheers.
  22. ^ I have to agree...very good job. The forecasters were warning of this end of last week and everyone here in Canada had enough notice to prepare but still....what a storm
  23. Statements 10:31 AM ADT Monday 24 March 2014 Special weather statement in effect for: [*]Halifax Metro and Halifax County West Winter storm likely on Wednesday. A very intense low pressure system is forecast to track near Nova Scotia on Wednesday. Very strong winds and significant snowfall are expected with this system. The snow is forecast to begin Wednesday morning and be heavy at times. The snow is forecast to change to rain in the afternoon over the eastern half of the mainland and Cape Breton but then change back to snow Wednesday night. The snow is expected to taper off by Thursday morning. Strong winds are forecast to develop ahead of the system on Wednesday and persist as the system pulls away Thursday. The strong winds and snow will cause reduced visibility in blowing snow. Although there is still considerable uncertainty with respect to exact snowfall amounts, computer models are consistently indicating significant accumulations. There is good potential for parts of the province to see total snowfall accumulations exceeding 25 centimetres with this system. The public is advised to monitor future forecasts and warnings. Warnings will likely be issued by Tuesday morning. Please monitor the latest forecasts and warnings from Environment Canada at WWW.WEATHER.GC.CA.
