  1. Afternoon all, It stopped snowing in Southend around lunchtime, got good 2 or 3 cm top up, although the skies have remained leadened all day, and now in the last 15 minutes the gusts have increased in strength and we are getting little snow drifts forming. Cheers FC

  6. Afternoon all, A few flurries flying around Southend at the moment, is the Southend snow machine about to fire back up again? Think I managed an ice day today, -0.5 was as 'warm' as it got... Cheers FC
  7. Just been out to do some measuring, we have an average snow depth of 6.5" (16.5cm..) Cheers FC
  8. Morning all, It will be interesting to see what happens to the lying snow today, here in Westcliff we probably got another 6cms over night, so getting quite a decent depth now, by the end of yesterday about half the depth had 'disappeared'. We did not make an ice day yesterday, maybe we will today... will try and measure the snow depth shortly, NW does not like my photos so can't upload any pics. FC
  9. Our pleasure, measured 6cms this morning in Westcliff, and it if this keeps up at the current rate we will easily pass 10cms today. FC

  11. Morning all, For a change we did well over night and we probably have around 4 to 6cms here. This morning blue skies and chilly but a few snow flurries are already being blown in on the wind. I hope it starts to get a bit more wide spread over the next couple of days... but I would like it to let up so that I can fly out of Gatwick on Friday afternoon. Cheers all FC
  12. coming down again in Westcliff, I am close to calling a snow day tomorrow!!! FC
  13. I hope it does ramp up, otherwise it is going to be difficult to call this one, for going work tomorrow, do I set the alarm for 3.30am or not.... Here's to a ramp up and no 3.30 alarm FC
  14. it is difficult to know which thread to be in at the moment, I keep jumping from one to the other FC
  15. Evening all, Moderate snow falling here in Westcliff (the Essex one), my chances of getting to Gatwick by 5am tomorrow just took a bit of a hit, but looking good out there. How is the Crawley/Gatwick/Reigate area doing at the moment? Cheers FC
  16. Evening all, moderate snow here in Westcliff at the moment everything slowly turning white, my chances of getting to Gatwick by 5am tomorrow just took a hit, but looking good out there :-) Cheers FC
  17. Evening all, I have just driven back from Gatwick to Southend, and I saw the first few flurries as I arrived in Southend.... safe to say I could count all 12 of them :-) Hopefully loads more to come! I noticed, when I was landing at Gatwick a little bit earlier, all the snow plows were fired up lights flashing drivers checking over the vehicles, they are clearly expecting some gainfully employment soon. here is hoping Cheers FC
  18. morning all, So it looks like it could be an interesting week weather wise in the UK. I am currently working near Munich and this winter has been very mild, according to the locals. I have only seen about 5 days of falling snow so far and none of that more than a couple of centimetres deep. Anyway, I am flying in to Gatwick on Sunday night and out again on Tuesday and I am wondering what the chances of that happening are. Getting in on Sunday does not look like problem but by Tuesday things could be interesting given the way weather patterns work between the north & south downs. I will be watching this thread with interest :-) Take care and stay safe FC
  19. Just lost count, the snow flakes are coming down a bit faster FC
  20. a few flakes falling in Southend, sadly still able to count each one.... FC
  21. Hi All, wow it is dark (with an orange tint) here in Southend, this is my first time back in Essex for a few weeks and it looks like someone turned the lights off whilst I was away, was this a predicted side effect of the tropical strom? Cheers FC
  22. All that snow I saw last week in the Alps had disappeared when I flew over them again yesterday.... :-( FC
