  1. we have been feeling the rain here in the Charente, everything is really green and quite lush, where as at this time of year everything should be yellow and parched. The rain has been good for the grapes after the June/July heat waves but we don't want anymore. It looks like we are returning to 30+ temps this weekend for a while but that will kick off the thunderstorms again which is not too good. Its going to be a fine balancing act now for September, fingers crossed for a good grape harvest which at the moment is scheduled to start 2 weeks earlier than normal. Cheers FC

  9. Morning All, What a contrast with last weekend, then we were in shorts and T-shirts eating outside and thinking that winter had left us for another year. Yet this weekend we are sitting under a slack north eastly wind with 100% cloud and today we will be lucky if the mercury reaches double figures. I'm off to chop more wood for the fires, have a good weekend one and all... FC
  10. Hello All, I am looking forward to the coming weekend, it should be the first shot of some really warm weather this year here in the Charente. It has already started to warm up and the almost incessant rain of the last few of weeks which has turned our garden into a mud bath, has stopped, and the wife is threatening to get her shorts out of the cupboard! I hope everyone has a good weekend, Cheers FC
  11. A lovely sunny day here in Central London, but there is still some bite to the wind knocking the edge off temps. FC
  12. Afternoon all, still quiet here despite even the radio 4 forecast this morning holding out the possibility of a wintery shower. It is certainly feeling colder than of late, though I am not sure if it's cold enough for any wintery stuff. FC
