  1. Snow still finding it hard to push westward towards Europe, though Scandinavia and Finland are looking better... FC
  2. At least it will make it a bit more seasonal for the Christmas Markets starting up in the coming days. I remember Salzburg last year, everything was still green up to Dec 23rd then the white Christmas arrived with avengeance, it was amazing... I hope you have a good season.. FC
  3. Lol, sudden cooling is an understatement, I was concreteing in my t-shirt this morning with a lovely strong sun, then the wind shifted direction, and goodness me, I had to give up I was so cold, even with 3 extra layers on. What the folks further inland had I can only imagine, but being used to between 15 and 20, when it dropped to 9 degrees with that cold wind it was definitely time to give up. FC (shivering infront of the fire)
  4. its breezy here in Southend rubbish bags being blown all over the place but nothing spectacular so far except the temparatures, its still 14.4 degrees out there according to my weather station Take care those of you further north... I will be attempting to drive to Nottingham tomorrow morning... FC
  5. Here in Central London, its pretty dark, the rain has started falling, gusts blowing around but still incredibly warm! FC
  6. The shipping forecast this morning was going for violent storm force 11 for a time in the Thames area in the next 24 hours... It was mild (13 degrees) and calm this morning when I left Southend at 5:30. FC
  7. The ice is looking good, but the effect of the unseasonably warm weather over Europe is clear to see, There has not been much change in the snow extent for quite a few days now. FC
  8. Glorious weekend in the Charente again (24 degrees), we were able to eat all or meals outside, and today is forecast to be even warmer than yesterday! I think when autumn/winter arrives it is going to be a bit of a shock to the system. Cheers FC
  9. Thanks for the update, Seaside 60, flights tomorrow are already going for a Kings Ransom, so I am not taking any chances and I will drive back to Southend, a nice early start tomorrow. Cheers FC
  10. Morning All Basking in 20 degrees plus here in SW France, however I was supposed to be in London now but my flight has been cancelled due to heavy fog. I understand you had similar problems yesterday with fog, my question is, is it going to be just as foggy tomorrow morning, I am trying to work out my options as I must be back in the UK tomorrow somehow. Cheers FC
  11. Afternoon all, Another glorious day here in Southend, there is a bit of a breeze blowing just taking the edge off the temparatures, not a cloud in the sky and the sun is still feeling warm, I am showing 18 degrees in the shade at the moment. FC
  12. over Central London the sun has been fighting the clouds, up to now the clouds have won, with only the occasional glimpses of sun and blue sky, from my window onto the world outside my office at least. FC
  13. Looks like NW Europe could be in for a great sunny autumnal few days, back to sunshine and 20+ temps for the weekend in our part of France. FC
  14. Not much change from the day before There are indeed a couple of pixels in Scandinavia.... FC
  15. Afternoon all, Its not just Northampton that has seen a tornado over the last couple of days; There have been around 7 tornados in the Charente/Charent Maritime over the last couple of days. Things are a bit quiter now... the closest one to us was 17Km away, a country mile in Tornado terms but getting a little too close for comfort in human terms. Have a good weekend one and all, and stay safe FC
  16. I could have sworn I heard a rumble of thunder over Southend about 20 minutes ago, just the one mind you.... Cheers FC
  17. Well the weather finally broke in spectacular style here in the Charente on Monday evening 31st August, some huge thunder storms were reported with 2 people unfortunately loosing their lives and about another dozen injured. We only saw one big storm which threatened to take out the electricity but in the end didn't, temps are now reaching much more reasonable highs of 20 - 22 degrees which should make it easier to sleep at night as things cool down. The Vendage is due to start next week, still 2 weeks ahead of the usual start date though there is the potential for some warmth later next week which may delay the start a little bit. Meanwhile I am back at work in a dull and overcast the UK already looking forward to getting home at the weekend. Cheers FC
  18. Afternoon All, another 11 degree start in Southend this morning at 5:30, now in London where it has been dull and overcast for most of the morning with the odd brighter bit thrown in to tease us. Its been dry so far but expecting some wet stuff later, probably for the journey back to Southend. Cheers FC PS My SW France correspondent (the wife) is saying that the 30 degree weather has gone and has been replaced by highs of just 22 degrees with sunshine and rain showers.
  19. Heavy shower passing over, and its really throwing it down here in Keyworth at the moment.... FC
  20. Yep another 30 degree day today and the storms arrived quite lae in the day, the first one has just passed over us here in Jarnac.... hopefully it will be cooler once the storms have passed by. I am on my way back to work in the UK tomorrow so it will be nice if its a bit cooler to travel... Good luck with the job hunting SpikeCollie... FC
  21. Just seen that Biarritz broke its temperature record for today (29th August) at 37.7 degrees, and tomorrow is forecast to be warmer than today. Records have been tumbling in a large number of places in France today. FC
  22. Another scorcher of a day today, actually in doors hiding from the 35 degree heat at the moment. We were on the coast earlier (just south of Royan) and it was 30 degrees plus there too, now we are back home inland from the coast it is 35 degrees. If the Meteo is to be believed there will be a stormy breakdown on Monday to more acceptable temps, but not before an even hotter day tomorrow!! Cheers FC
