  1. Seriously? Wow. It was our best snowfall since 94', literally. Lasted around 5-6 hours, with 2-3 hours of very heavy snow.
  2. Looks like your getting your own back! We had 4-5" here yesterday just 20 miles from Nottingham, and just sleety rain now. I don't believe it lol, everywhere in Nottinghamshire has settling snow apart from myself - Sods law.
  3. I hope so mate.. but it seems some peoples snow is starting to turn into a sleety mix, might have missed the fun today.
  4. I really don't get this. Nottingham has snow, as well as most if not ALL other counties in the East Midlands. How is it possible that it's remaining as a rainy/sleety mix in Newark and Lincoln?
  5. The second band will be rain. Going from rain to sleet here.. not quite making the final transition..
  6. Turned to proper sleet here now.. hoping for that final change to snow shortly..
  7. Was just about to post myself, it's definately got some partially melted snow mixed in now... looking good for later. <_<
  8. Don't worry lincolnsnow.. If it turns to snow in the next few hours by the time the heavier stuff finally moves a few miles northeast of it's current position, it should settle. <_< Furthermore, we still have a good 'icey' covering on the grass and most pavements.. so that should help.
  9. Still rain in Nottingham? Our best chance is in a few hours.. dependant on whether the heaviest of the PPN can shift another 20 miles northeast..
  10. Will do mate. At the moment the N-W "precipitype" radar is driving me crazy, its SO inaccurate! If it's going to be as bad as it is.. they shouldn't have it enabled as a feature.
  11. Thanks TEITS.. looks like the heaviest PPN will hit me in the next 30 minutes or so and stay for a good 3-4 hours, so it will be a night of radar watching and curtain twitching!
  12. Thanks.. I won't give up hope yet. Local radio station just said rain possibly turning to snow overnight could lead to accumilations by morning..
  13. Any chance of this rain turning back to snow overnight? I struggle to understand why the East Midlands warning includes almost all cities apart from Nottinghamshire. We are getting rain, but I don't understand why 20 miles north in all directions is getting snow, or sleet at the worst. A isolated warm sector maybe..?
  14. Rain been falling here for a few hours now, turning a little heavier. Ice covering of an inch or so is still holding up well in some places.. But it really is annoying, the radar precipitype radar shows us as snow, and sleet upto 100 miles south, I can't believe how it can be that inaccurate.
  15. Well yeah, I should be pleased. Last time we got 4 inches was '94. In fact, since 2001, we have had no more than 2 inches!
  16. Heavy snow again now, but expecting this to be gone in the next hour or two.. 4 inches lying now, and still settling though.. -3C here with cloud cover.
  17. A very enjoyable day here. Snow only started at 8am so I saw the whole lot. Continued throughout the day to leave 5 inches at it's peak.Turned sleety between 3-4.30pm before returning back to snow. Down to around 3 inches now with less on frequently used pavements.. but the snow is coming down again in moderate bursts, and sticking.
  18. Had around 4 inches here today, and been snowing on and off since. Went sleety for a hour or two after 3.. but back to settling snow now. Grass & quieter, less used pavements still have a full covering of 3 inches or so, and that may be topped up now. Moderate snow falling and sticking as I type.
  19. Nope but warnings upgraded for the Midlands saying 5-10cm's expected widely.
  20. This is superb! Just hit here, been for 5 minutes and already have close to a cm! The radar is looking great for my area too..
  21. Heh, lucky for your area. At Magnus (school in newark) we never close. Even when the boiler breaks, we just have to sit their in our coats. I'm sure there is a minimum temperature by law that a school should be.. and we must be breaking it at least 4 or 5 times every year.
  22. It's -4C here already.. quite shocking for 21.00 hours! Great to see the BBC forcasts not changing for once, I expect at least 7 or 8 cm's from this, hopefully more. Regardless, if we exceed 4cm's, it will be the largest snowfall in Newark for over 4 years..
