  1. I'd expect the heavier falls to arrive around late afternoon and persist until late evening - 10cm's of fresh accumulation give or take.. and with existing cover of aroumd 6-7cm's I think things could get a little dicey overnight.
  2. Light snow beginning to fall here (I'm actually situated 5 miles outside of Grantham today. Look to be in a prime spot for this afternoon, through the evening. Enjoy it folks.
  3. Current warnings suggest up to 10cm's of fresh snowfall in worst affected areas- so yes, the current warnings do SUFFICE. The only nonsense being spouted is the post I'm quoting above. Now move along... Luckily the MetO clearly share my view- they aren't delusional.
  4. The current warnings suffice for what the models are suggesting right now. Expect flash warnings tomorrow as required.
  5. BBC gets their information direct from the Met - but many of these forecasts are prerecorded. Even the live forecasts are going off slightly outdated models- as it takes hours after a model update for them to compose and deliver their forecast. I hope I explained that well enough. I'd fancy us to be at or around the 10cm mark for fresh snow by this time tomorrow.
  6. Convection is expected to die down as we move into the early hours of the morning - definitely worth keeping an eye on that radar, though!
  7. Sarcasm is clearly lost on you. He couldn't of made it much clearer that he was just commenting in jest, lol.
  8. In the suggested sweet spot once again for tomorrow's low - we're well within a reliable time frame now so I just hope the charts verify! Will be radar watching from the word go tomorrow morning- hoping to see a further 10cms or so.
  9. When the low appears on the radar things will pick up again in the forums- expect a busy morning and afternoon tomorrow!
  10. 24 hours out from the event now and things are looking promising. MetO has updated to 6-9 hours of heavy snowfall tomorrow for my area. Enjoy, folks!
  11. Indeed, 12Z looks very good. Light snow has been a regular feature today. No real thaw, everything looking good.
  12. Measurements on this forum do have a tendency to be a little 'generous', shall we say...
  13. That's the general consensus, yes. Midnight onwards as the winds veer Easterly is when convection of the North Sea will begin making significant inroads inland.
  14. Eastern areas of the E Mids in the sweet spot now, further intensification of the band - despite showing worrying signs a little earlier. Heavy snowfall continues...
  15. Still coming down at a significant pace here, measured an even 6cm's as of 6pm - and that's fresh.
  16. That's because the Easterly is only just starting to drive these showers on to land.... they aren't forecast to get going until this evening and overnight - once the remainder of the frontal snow has fizzled out. Feel free to ask any other knowledge member of these forums as to whether this is what's expected or not. Can anyone step in and verify the above so SWFC may finally understand and take note?
  17. The "big event" of today has not been forecast for your area for the last 2-3 days, light and patchy front slowly dieing out, with convective heavy showers of the North Sea to follow overnight and throughout Saturday. It's going entirely as forecast.
  18. GFS has been trying to rush the Atlantic back in for the last 8-9 days now. Can't be entirely discounted, but you can see why most doubt it's reliability right now.
  19. The amber warning IS a severe warning. Today has been a perfect definition for it, the warning covers everything that's happened. I'm struggling to see your point.
  20. That forecast changed at about +72hrs out... ! The forecast made within a reasonable timeframe has verified pretty much as predicted.
  21. Lol - have you read what a red warning stands for? 10cm certainly does not require a red warning - people are just delusional. The amber warnings specified the likelihood for the totals that have fallen. The warnings tell the public accurate totals and warns them of potential travel disruption. From checking all the public transport services - some disruption has occurred, but some remain running. Thus the amber warning sums it up perfectly. Well done MetO.
