    Difficult to do justice to what I've just seen here- thundersnow, gusting winds and visibility down to around 10 feet, heaviest snowfall I've seen in Newark in my (almost) 22 years, still coming down. Would you believe its almost Mid-March? Absolutely incredible! Opened back doors before being forced to close them almost instantaneously, really quite scary out there- breathtaking stuff.

    BOOM - here we go. Excellent echoes appearing ahead of the heaviest stuff over Wales now, should be here within half an hour - I look very well placed today.

    Damp/wet ground has very little impact on settling snow- it's a common misconception. Many other variables are far more important.

    Knocking on my doorstep now. Looks like a few hours of lighter falls before the heavier stuff moves into my area- fully expecting this to remain as snow until 6/7pm.

    Any reports from Mansfield/Nottingham? Should be just about on your doorstep now.

    South Midlands you might be correct, all models pointing to favourable conditions in N Mids until mid evening.

    Won't be many issues in Birmingham, too far south. Shortlived cover before turning to rain through mid afternoon. North Midlands is where the fun and games are today.
