  1. No idea how the corrections are done but here in the far south east the month did have an overall chilly feel especially if you took out the freakishly warm beginning. It is the lack of weather action (no snow, rain, wind and even remarkably little fog) that was most notable (even last weekend's storms barely registered a blip here).
  2. Yes, while it's been a terminally boring month in the far south east, temperature wise with high pressure it's not been as mild as it might have been at least. Yet to see a snowflake this winter here.
  3. And there is always the concern in the cycle of things such a long run of settled, dry but boring Winter weather will be offset by a relentlessly miserable and wet Spring or Summer.
  4. No sun here today after virtually no sun all month. Those Midland areas above must have been benefiting from cloud breaking up as the air travels north. Incidentally follow the current GFS isobar over Kent southwards and it starts at Lanzarote although the air itself is drifting off the west central Sahara area.
  5. After spending three weeks with cold teasing the final models and controls have caved in and we are settling into the usual Christmas/New Year mild snooze feast for the next couple of weeks and no doubt beyond. A bit of snow on northern hills yawn.
  6. Yes a lot of over promising earlier in the week from the Beeb and other forecasters. Still mainly overcast after a lot of morning drizzle. No doubt we will see a few rays eventually this afternoon but too late now we're heading into mid October to save the day.
  7. Looking a bit rubbish to be honest. Hope I'm wrong. 15.2C
  8. Asking for a friend what's the likelihood of a air frost in the SO20 6RE area tonight? Thanks
  9. I think your guess may end up being closer to the finishing mark than mine of 1.4C but I am not sure you needed to make it any higher especially if things cool off again late in the month. On your wider point I think the saturated but rather warm ground prior to the cold spell hasn't helped with the sense of depth of cold feel you mention. Strangely here daytime temps are lower today despite the bright sun with the short sea track ESE'ly than earlier in the week with the NE'ly.
  10. I have to say the Net Weather radar is odd in that the pink for snow was shown over our area for much of today yet it was no more than sleet or in fact mainly cold rain with a few snowflakes apart from the briefest moment (minute or two) of actual snow when it first arrived.
