  1. Firstly many thanks to Jackone for once again compiling the competition stats for the year that has just been completed. I am slightly surprised but nevertheless pleased to have finished second in the annual competition. The most noteworthy of the last twelve months for me was the extraordinarily mild, sunny and dry March which had such an unfortunate effect on our agriculture and gardens by advancing everything so far forward but which was so untypical of the largely wet and cool year we've endured since then.
  2. Climate UK (Manley) has updated to the end of the month:- CET: (Nov 1-30): 6.74°C (-0.5 degC) E&W Rain: (Nov 1-30): 134.1mm (127 per cent) E&W Sun: (Nov 1-30): 75.0hr (107 per cent) © Philip Eden (If you wish to use or copy these figures, please acknowledge the source) On the face of it these stats are relatively unremarkable, disguising what for many has been a fairly extreme month. In terms of the CET the final adjusted Hadley figure doesn't usually stray too far from Manley so somwhere between 6.6 and 6.8 looks fairly probable.
  3. Climate UK (Manley) monthly stats:- CET: (Sep 1-30): 13.07°C (-1.0 degC) E&W Rain: (Sep 1-30): 88.4mm (107 per cent) E&W Sun: (Sep 1-30): 170.8hr (118 per cent) © Philip Eden (If you wish to use or copy these figures, please acknowledge the source) Hadley's final adjusted CET doesn't usually stray too far from this.
  4. Thanks once again to Jackone for compiling the scores. It's quite nice to have won the seasonal competition although I'm not sure the luck will stay with me in order to win the full year's gong!
  5. Climate UK (Manley) have released their closing monthly stats CET: (Aug 1-31): 16.66°C (+0.16 degC) E&W Rain: (Aug 1-31): 93.5mm (124 per cent) E&W Sun: (Aug 1-31): 167.6hr ( 87 per cent) © Philip Eden I suspect these figures reflect significant regional variations but here in Kent we had a pleasant month in that it was essentially warm and fairly sunny with not too many persistent rain days to spoil things. Only complaint was the high humidity at times especially at night.
  6. Mwet Office Hadley CET is on 16.9C up to the 30th.
  7. 17.3C to the 23rd. The decline is occurring a little faster than in BFTV's calculations based on the GFS above. The CET may well finish on mid 16's or even marginally below that after the usual month end downward adjustment of around 0.2 to 0.3C.
  8. Hadley update shows 16.6C (Aug 1 - 11).
  9. Here at the stats from Manley Climate UK as we near mid month, needless to say they are about as poor as July can be in this country. CET: (Jul 1-15): 15.0°C ( -1.3 degC) E&W Rain: (Jul 1-15): 81.5mm (253 per cent) E&W Sun: (Jul 1-15): 50.4hr ( 51 per cent) © Philip Eden
  10. Hadley update has the CET at 15.5C to the 11th. Next week still looks unsettled with average or below average temps. It looks like a final week hot spell is needed to take us above any of the means now.
  11. Another 0.3C jump today. Hadley is now on 11.5C (May 1 -27).
  12. Latest update 10.3C to 23rd The 1961/90 and 1659/2010 average of 11.2C will probably be exceeded, even after month end correction, if the warmth persists to 31st May. Whether it breaches the 1981/2010 CET average of 11.7 is more doubtful particularly if the last two days cool off a bit but at the moment the models are a litle uncertain about how the month will end.
  13. The "much better" day has so far failed to materialise as rain continues to teem down here.
  14. Climate UK has updated with one day to go. CET: (Apr 1-29): 7.2°C (-1.3 degC) E&W Rain: (Apr 1-29): 129.7mm (207 per cent) E&W Sun: (Apr 1-29): 129.7hr ( 81 per cent) © Philip Eden By comparison the Met Office Hadley is on 7.4C up to the 29th. Today's warmth should nudge it up to 7.5C and so a finish after month end adjustment between 7.1C and 7.3C looks likely.
  15. What was the decrease that year? Meanwhile the Met Office Hadley reports the CET has edged slightly upwards to 7.1C (Apr 1 - 22)
