  1. Heavy rain starting and seagulls returning to base pronto. Oh the smell, it's been dry for quite a while here
  2. Lightening followed by a very long rumble of thunder. Now spitting with rain so off back inside
  3. According to the latest lightening map 18.00, looks like a strike almost on top of The Met Office. I bet that woke them up
  4. I can predict that The Express will have some Stormaggedon type headline for sure but can we discuss the storm potential not the predicable tabloid sensation please? Pop over to banter is you want to have a dig at the tabloids, I won't put anyone on the naughty step
  5. Lettuce (no swear filter) is supposed to have something in it that aids sleep so I recall. I think it's more in the stalks. Victorians used to make their kids eat it to aid sleep but then they did some weird things back then. Maybe worth a try. I don't get much sleep in the summer. The light mornings and seagull (and commercial bin emptying across the road at 5.30am grrr) mean that I am up usually around 5-5.30. I reckon I get about 6 hours sleep at most but make up for it in winter. Maybe I should hibernate?
  6. I remember being on the beach and thinking "dogs aren't allowed on the beach" then remembering it was 1st October so they were. We all got sunburnt despite sun cream. Beach was packed, more than in summer as it was such a novelty
  7. I can't see how they could measure "thunder days" other than with a lightening detector. Most observation sites are now completely automated
  8. William, we have been to France most summers and usually experience at least one storm. We stayed south of Niort (not far from La Rochelle) a few years ago and had some very violent storms. The poor people camping in the garden next door for a family party did not get a good nights sleep. We also viewed the most spectacular sight of watching a slow moving cell in the distance. It was clear where we were but we watched the lightening within the cloud. Beautiful. If you get chance go to Puy du Fou. Not cheap but worth every penny. Get two days if you can. Google and You Tube it
  9. don't say that! Someone I know is about to take off from there any minute
  10. To be fair they did mention a convergence line down in the South West on the local weather a lunchtime. Just hold off until after the school pick up please!

  17. Cloudy here but the sun keeps popping through the clouds. Wonder if it will hold off before I pick princess Tbags up from after school clubs?
  18. I just heard it too William. Reckon it's tracking inland North west towards Honiton way. Spoke too soon, just started raining here so might get some action :-)
  19. glad it's just not my imagination, I think sometimes it is in cloud which maybe doesn't register as you say
