  1. Thanks for finding those links Knocker, I was looking for some to show the UK side of things. The work they do "in theatre" (what you might call an action zone) can make or break an operation. It certainly gives the the opportunity to exploit the weather conditions to best suit what they are trying to achieve. The MMU are very much the unsung heros of military operations.
  2. You don't show your location but if you are within travelling distance to Exeter their library is open to the public and has quite a bit of useful info. As said above though, send them an email and have a scout around the MetO website.
  3. 26c, windy with a sandstorm. Visibility is getting worse
  4. Well that was exciting. The locals were saying it's the worst they have seen for years. It was a storm but not too bad by UK standards. Problem is they are not set up to deal with rain so the roads are not designed to let the rain drain off. http://www.thenational.ae/uae/environment/hail-rain-and-floods-uae-wintry-weather-in-pictures#1
  5. Woke up to a thunder storm today. First proper rain in six months since I have been here. Hubby said the roads were chaos, with trees and signs down and hail in the desert Second photo is not mine but wow
  6. Drove back from Devon to East Sussex today. Saw a couple of cars "kissing" trees. I guess it was cold in the SE last night. Got back to find Grandma Loo's boiler has packed up
  7. Stunning, scared my kids. Not because of the content, it was seeing me get so excited
  8. Guys, try to think before posting. We don't need to get personal, thanks
  9. Been watching this on here http://earth.nullschool.net/#current/wind/surface/level/orthographic=58.19,19.96,1619 Certainly working itself up to something interesting.
  10. I know it's not the UK but this just hit. Zero visibility and rain/thunder on the way
  11. Early in 2004, January I think, we had heavy snow up in Helmsley, North Yorkshire. I phoned my husband to suggest he come back home early. That afternoon there were a few claps of thunder, making the snow fall even heavier. Unfortunately it was also the day my husband's boss (my previous boss) was killed in an accident due to the weather.
  12. love that, bookmarking that for future use, thanks Knocker
  13. Wow, that's a serious looking forecast from Estofex, not seen anything like that before from them Keep me posted how this plays out
  14. Currently 35c, feels like 49c according to Accuweather and it's only 9am. Got to walk about 100 metres and back to someone's apartment shortly, we are going to melt
  15. Apparently Ottery St Mary is like a war zone according to my painter, flooding near the Chinese (wherever that is?)
  16. Just heard a distant rumble, although bright and sunny here. Spooked the seagulls
  17. Woken up in the early hours with thunder and torrential rain. Ended up watching it on the sea front as it rolled over to the west Today is going to be hard to call, depending on where and when the cloud breaks to warm things up
  18. Can we keep on topic please and not discuss people's holidays? Looking at the radar something is developing towards Bridport/Weymouth
  19. I think , looking at the radar, we have had our fun for the evening. Further East along the coast looks promisingNice photos Ben Sainsbury
