Snow just starting to pick up here in Doncaster, If it keeps going like this we may get a decent accumulation after all, not before time too!!!!
Yep that narrow band of heavy precipitation I was talking about has shifted north. Hopefully it will stick around for quite a while!
-
Just thought I would add this from my local newspaper.
http://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/ViewArt...p;SectionID=845
Has the world gone mad!!
When I was a child we used to put stones into the snowballs. Probably this is why they are banned these days!.
''He said pupils would be allowed to visit reception to hand in their coursework.''
like hell thats guna happen!....
-
3cm here and thats without any heavy stuff... Doesnt look like theres guna be any now, unless that narrow band stretching from the humber west spreads further north and maintains its intensity..
-
snowing ligtt-moderatly here still.. *yawn*
Where are the big fat flakes! these little ones are ****......
-
All I want is the classic moment of very heavy snowfall comeing down, where your thinkin bloody ell this is heavy! If it can just stay like this for another 2 hours Il have another 4 inches....
-
Its starting to get quite heavy, but nothing to get too excited about...
-
this snow just doesnt want to get heavy! I prefer snow showers comeing in off the north sea compared to this. Atleast there mega heavy with laarge snowflakes..
-
snowing now moderatly here, depth 2cm..... still not seen any fat flakes yet...
-
about 1.3cm here so far. and that is just from light stuff...
-
woohoo, getting quite heavy now!
What makes it even better is, infront of my house there is a busy road, but temorary traffic lights due to road works are forcing cars to stop for ages, allowing the road to quickly cover over with snow! I can see some cars getting stuck there later! hahaha!
my predictions for tonight:
me 10-12cm
groupel 3-6cm
james m 10-12cm.
-
Sounds nice Jed! fingers crossed mate!
yep, good luck to us all
Its just gone really light again unfortunatly.. I hope the heavy stuff doesnt completly die out... I wouldnt think so though.. theres a least a good few hours of heavy snow to come.
-
woohoo, the weather guy off calender news has just said 2-5cm for lower tonight and 10-15cm on higher ground...(yorkshire)
He then said higher ground meaning 100m!
-
Well the temp is dropping slowly here still down to 0.5C but the humidity is rising which means the dewpoint is rising goddammit.
Been snowing just lightly for the last 20 minutes, but everything is sticking and the road infront of my house is almsot covered... cant wait for the heavy stuff to come!
-
The only dissapointment at the moment is, I still havent seen any big fat flakes this winter! Todays flakes have all been small too....
Can anyone report some big fat flakes falling now? the ones that are the size of small tea plates and cover everything emediatly...
-
Been snowing here most the afternoon (wet snow) not sticking. However it is now sticking and coming down very heavy
*passes cookies and hot chocolate around*
Robert
Stop it Robert! Anymore hot chocolate and cookies and Il be sick!
-
moderate snow settling on everything now!
lol I dont believe it, I feel like im getting a cold now!
-
ls11 still raining
Dont know what the height is though
definetly makes a major difference
It was rainy/sleety/haily snow at around 3pm (wateva you wana call it), but now we have moderate snow falling and settling on sertain surfaces.. getting slowly colder though...
You shud get a covering atleast..
-
If this area of precip over the midlands now i wouldnt be suprised huge totals as its coming down at such a rate and settling nicely everywhere
he he! All that precipitations comeing my way...
It can wait another hour though... Just so the temp will have dropped a few points of a degree before it arrives, that way not a flake wud be wasted..
-
Hay mate, i'm between barnsley and wakefield. May be we'll get something after all?
Hi, I think youl get a few centimetres.
Up here though I reckon there could be a good few inch before the nights up!
-
WOOHOO! the blizzard has started! Finally some snow to west yorkshire!
Snowing moderatly now, lovely white flakes... temperature slowly dropping with bags of precipitation to the south. tonight shud be fun!
-
Im really looking forward to this saturday actually. It might well turn out to be rain from start to finish for oxford, but with our base of snow keeping temps down low tonight (hopefully), and the low which has just moved through pulling those -5s back south a bit, and the ppn as heavy as it is progged to be on saturday, who knows. It looks like it will get here in the early hours again, which maximises chances anyway.
And metcheck predictions (unreliable though they are commonly accepted to be) of 15 odd cms of snow help. Theyve updated now and changed to a more sleety, rainy outlook, but temps still very low, so who knows what could end up happening? I admit its unlikely, but its possible enough to keep me interested.
lol, dont take any notice of forecasts where you put your postcode in, there a waste of web space...
-
Very very wishfull thinking but I just wonder if the precipitation around the irish sea might keep developeing and push right into northern england...
Plus the showers around the east coast of yorkshire are developeing a bit and pushing west..
Before anyone says dont be stupid! I know this is extremly unlikly but funnier things have happened with the weather before...
I remember once, the night time forecast was clear skies/dry just as I went to bed.. I woke up feeling quite optermistic only to whip the curtains open, to see 4" of snow and heavy snow still falling hard! lol
-
Jesus what did i ever do to you
sorry, but you cant expect me to go the whole night without an Everton Foz jibe can you?
Suprisingly even he has predicted this (*shouts* in the short term! )
-
According to the radar, heavy snow has broken out ahead of the front, but localised to snowdonia, anyone around that area to confirm this?...

The chances of the cold winning at this stage is probably a 50-1 shot.
Subtle differences in the charts over the next 36 hours could significantly reduce that though...
