  1. Just started snowing here in south Worcestershire
  2. NAE has pushed the snow back west for tomorrow now
  3. Tuesday showing a fair bit of potential on latest NAE model. Hopefully might get something decent off that. 1 1/2 inches only here so far
  4. I believe some of our more learned friends on here were hinting at a return to a brief mild pattern around next week before the cold takes hold again. The charts this evening do seem to reflect this. As John says it has been a good week and most have had something from it, the majority of the models in the reliable time frame (ukmo and ecm)) dealing rather wellwith the last weeks set ups. Lets see if they continue to do so and predictions from the likes of GP come to fruition. SSW has not taken its full effects as yet and still another 2+ months where we can get colder patterns giving the types of weather the majority of this communit seek. Lots still to play for imho.
  5. the 18z shows a less snowy outcome over next few days, is this correct now? it was due to snow all tomorrow and into saturday, now we are seeing half a day of snow tomorrow and all clear on saturday?
  6. Please god let the 18z verify for friday and saturday, we are snow starved here
  7. Well I have had nothing here, no precipitation at all, must say I am a might surprised but work tomorrow so am off to bed. Appartenly has snowed all around where I live, just not in the town iteself! Sigh... good luck all and hopefully something will appear for us later in the week/moth/year/decade/millenium!
  8. looks like we may just catch the edge of it in north glos, thanks for your continued input ian, very grateful to have your insight on here in the coming days!
  9. Thanks for taking the time to reply Ian. Will be interesting to see the outcome of the current SSW episode. If things to turn out to be correct I am sure it will provide valuable feedback in terms of future forecasting. Gav
  10. Hi All, Dont post very often but I was wondering if Ian F would be kind enough to shed some light on a question I have. (dont worry its not asking if its going to snow in X location in 10 weeks time) You hinted at a possible change to the current pattern some days ago now after meeting with colleagues at the Met. This was some time prior to todays charts showing the beginnings of possible change mid month. You guys obviously have access to data more that what we get to see by looking at the standard models but what were these decisions based upon? Was it the SSW that is occuring or a mixture of massive data collection, experience and human input? Either way predicting the changes back towards the 22nd of december (I think thats when you mentioned it was stated to yourself and colleagues) could be a very accurate prediction. I hope its not too much like the magic circle and you cannot reveal all your tricks but it would be interesting to know. Many thanks for your time. Gavin
  11. I would love to see that too! Its about the only way we get decent snow here
  12. Being from Upton upon Severn we do tend to get a lot of flooding when the severn bursts its banks. I dont consider it freakish now though, just another day in Upton almost. Shame I cannot say the same for snow. Is this a case for most people of "grass is always greener on the other side" though?
  13. Looking at trends for my area. Winters seem to have been snowier and colder over the latter years of this first decade of the 21C. I just hope that this didnt peak with last year and that we can expect something similar this winter.(if not better)
  14. A point I have tried to make more than once Mr D. The midlands is a pretty big area as well and you really cannot pigeon hole it when applying conditions. Yesterday snow is a perfect example of this.
  15. I love the snow but what is shown on the GFS18z in pretty terrifying for a large part of England. What actually happens is another story but amazing patterns and synoptics this evening.
  16. Just been outside to see the car and had to move 3 inches + of snow off the car, the malverns must have done well out of this and I bet those hills will be busy tomorrow with all the kids off school!
  17. Getting close to 3 inches here now, is it still due to intensify over the region this evening? Malvern Must have 5 to 6 inches by now I would have thought! Cheers
  18. I am in the shadow of the Malverns a bit closer to Sea level and we have had snow since about 11:00am. we now have a about 1 1/2 to 2 inches. Is it really suppose to get heavier around 18:00 hours. Showing as 12mm of precipitation between 18:00 and 21:00 hours. Is this right?
  19. Just snowed very briefly here in South Worcester, already stopped again though
  20. Altitude was always going to play a bg part in this. Nothing in upton this morning but Malvern had a good drop I am led to understand. All good though
  21. Very very light snow here, but it is settling on the window ledges
  22. No precipitation at all at the moment, Band must have slowed down again, as I said though was not expecting anything here until 3am so well ahead of schedule still if its snowing in malvern already
  23. Still not snowing in Upton which is about 6 miles east of Malvern
  24. 6 hours before schedule CG according to the met!!
