Seems a bit warmer in South Worcester today but no real signs of a thaw. No Snow today though but whilst the Met do do a wonderful Job and have called it pretty danm accurately this cold spell, the preciptation forecast sometimes just does not appear. No Complaints here though been a great spell of cold weather.
Had about 3 - 4 inches today which has been great. Gotta say though the majority of that fell this morning between 10:30 and 11:30 rest of the days its been very fine and very light or nothing at all. Not sure what overnight will bring yet, but am amazed to have had this much tbh.
Been all rain here, all day! John Holmes did say that this would be a non event for us lower level peeps. Wish I would have listened more to the net weather severe weather warning. Met have had heavy snow over my location from 3 am this morning and as per usual not 1 flake here. They continue to show this for worcester, Malvern and Pershore (the 3 main weather reporting stations to my location) but I no longer have confidence in this for the remainder of the spell. Even the Beebs forecasts had snow over us. I am just wondering what the SW Midlands needs to do to see some of the white stuff. I thought that this would be the ideal setup for snow for here, or was it just not cold enough before the rain band got here?
Netweather's very own John Holmes has called this most accurately. He stated it was always going to be an event for the higher altitudes. If we would have listenend to him in the first place there would be a lot more less surprised and unhappy people.
Similar here Bish, Todays output is looking so much more promising. I would be cautious though, although the trend is there, the finer details are yet to be pinned down, a bit like playing pin the tail on the mosquito at the moment!
South Worcestershire has seen 0 from this, not really surprsed but I thought we might have seen something last night. Not disspaointed anymore as I am not really surprised to be honest. Most I have seen was on thursday of last week when we had a graupel type shower for 3 minutes at most. Nevermind.
Lets hope thats the case, it is just the one run so far thats pushed the precipitation back to the eastern half of the region. Not confident for the next couple of days now however as the forecasters are not mentioning the midlands too much with ref to snow thus far.
Gotta say, I am a bit downbeat this evening going into this spell now, for us South West Midlanders it looked for a time that we could see something out of this. I am not one to moan normally but even with these synoptics we may just miss out again. It does always seem to downgrade these events as they get closer to T+ 00.
We start looking away from Thursday friday now to Sunday and the start of next week but the snow always just creeps away or the precipitation bands dont make it over us.
Just for once it would be lovely for it not to be so marginal and to know you are gonna get a pasting from the white stuff.
This purely a regional thing, I am sure a lot of midlanders and people in more favourable area's will do well out of this!
Chasing snow isnt quite the same as it falling on your doorstep though
Lets hope for upgrades over the next 24 hours eh!
The last 3 nights especially has seen the 18z upgrade the forthcoming week in terms of cold and snow. IF you compare it to the previous days 18z like we are constantly reminded to. Cant wait to see tomorrows!
How would the Midlands and Wales Fair from this? Will it come down to just how potent the eastlery is or would us Westerners see lying snow to any depth from the current Synoptics? It just seems a lot of the really excited people (with good cause) are from the east/north east. Will this be a non event for us in terms of snow?
We were always due to get light rain throughout themorning, The main band of heavy precipitation comes in the late evening. Wether or not it will be snow I dont know, time will tell
