  1. Currently 26.9C on my garden weather station in Wakefield which is well in the shade, as at 14:22
  2. Really surprised to hear rain on the roof light windows last night! Quite a pleasant morning here in Wakefield. Not really looking forward to the heat, but thankfully we're back to normal by Wednesday. Just going to have to grin and bear Mon and Tues.
  3. Anyone hoping records are not broken? It’s going to be bad enough as it is if we are in the 36/37 region. 38.7 to 41 is just not enjoyable.
  4. I’m sure everyone in this thread is really looking forward to Wednesday. It will be here before we know it!
  5. Only in that there is a north westerly drift by 6pm, but it’s going to take a while for the difference to be felt on the surface…. So yes I guess a full hot day!
  6. So it looks like a hot Sunday and Monday, and perhaps half a day Tuesday as the hot air appears to move away during the afternoon, but expect the “cool down” (if you can call it that) will be a slow process. Notwithstanding by Wednesday its thankfully back to more normal temperatures that we can all enjoy.
  7. Or a dry dream perhaps! Thankfully it doesn’t last long and we’re back into a more normal regime Weds onwards.
  8. Well I don't think there is much us "heat haters" can do now, this hot 2-3 days looks inevitable. The only options are to either drive towards north west regions where it will be less hot, or just sit tight and deal with it in the knowledge it will be all over by Wednesday!!
  9. Completely agree. I *want* to see a downgrade as I don't want it hot, so any "downgrade" is in fact in my book an "upgrade" to 'less hot' conditions.
  10. Bring it on. Not all of us want it to be hot. A steady 20-24C would do most of us just fine.
  11. "Bad" is subjective - it is not bad if you don't like it stifling hot. The run suits me fine and I am up north
  12. Thank you. I was looking in the Regionals section and there's no forum there for that region https://www.netweather.tv/forum/forum/142-regional-weather/
  13. I can't find a South East/London thread in the regionals - any ideas? I can only see locked topics for that region.
  14. A1 it is then! Although we are not travelling until after midnight, I doubt it's going to get any better on that road!
  15. Does anyone know how the A1 is looking? And dare I say the A66? I am travelling north in the early hours of Saturday to Scotland - normally I would be going up the A1 from Yorkshire, then over the A66, but I am thinking I might be best going straight up the A1 to Edinburgh?
  16. Looking at the pressure charts the wind looks to really ramp up at lunch time and will be very strong between then and early evening as the system exits into the North Sea.
  17. I agree, same here in Wakefield. Quite cosy in bed listening to the rain all night. As for the wind - strangely very calm right now. Barely a breath of air.
  18. That's what I'm thinking - the A1 is very close to the east side and is very coastal as you get up towards Berwick so think that will be better than going across the A66 and up through Glasgow
  19. Cheers - will keep my eye on the situation! Once I'm across the bridge I'll be heading for the A90 at Perth, then A96 up into Aberdeenshire. Long drive!
  20. I think I might be better going up the A1 all the way up to Edinburgh and across the Forth Bridge rather than the A1, then across the A66 and up the M74. I was intending to set off at about 03:00 on Saturday morning.
  21. I am travelling north to Scotland in the early hours of Saturday morning after the storm has passed through so my concern at that time is snow across the high level routes (eg A66). I am hoping it will have melted or turned to rain by then?
  22. It's windy here in Wakefield but nothing particularly exceptional at the minute. Not sure it will get much stronger as the day goes on? Mind you, the warning doesn't kick in til 3pm.
  23. Yesterday the trend was that the storm was tracking more across the south on each run. It’s looks to be tracking a little further north again this morning. Looks very worrying.
  24. Makes a change for this to be during the day - the last few named storms seem to have had their main effects in night time hours
