  1. Have a feeling I suggested it would a couple of days back as well! I am willing it to and the fax does hint at it
  2. Sorry didn't realise that people were arguing about stalled fronts! This front slows really I think and an occlusion forms as it often does when air masses meet. cold fronts travel faster than warm fronts and this catches the warm front up as it definitely slows as it hits the cold air mass, it will eventually stall I am sure but whether over mainland uk or the north sea we cannot be sure
  3. That shows a classic stalled front as it the cold front catches up the warm front and occlludes low pressure that has formed is nicely south as well keeping us on coldish air would be nice if t were a bit further south and the front stalled permantly but still looking good. -4 here already little bit nippy
  4. Remind me of this on Saturday night when I'm up a hill on snow and you're watching the drizzle through the window?! x
  5. I am expecting this snow to be further west than teits red line going by past events I think the line may follow the Pennines more closely. I would expect areas west of Manchester to see snow turning to rain I think east of this particularly heading into the Pennines that it will be snow but fizzling out rather than turning into rain. I have often left deep snow in Macclesfield to arrive to drizzle in Crewe.
  6. Light snow falling here guess it won't amount to much though before heading off south
  7. Pretty happy with winter so far, 4 days of 100% snow cover at 9am. 5 inches of snow last friday. Hope it continues what's the problem?
  8. after a slow thaw of yesterday's snow heavy snow is now falling again. Two days of 100% snow cover at 9am. better than what I expected so far this year
  9. I am sure you are right, I was just young and stupid and don't remember the deep mud I just remember being cold. I was older in 2005 and not as wasted and less prepared for lack of comfort!
  10. I was still out as the thunderstorm started it seemed like a light relief after the hot weather. They were talking about closing the festival until the fire brigade sent pumps in and H&S were happy that the risk was less than trying to evacuate 100,000 wasted people. The mud was deep until the Sunday afternoon though since then new drainage has been put in. That was a freak storm on dry earth, 1997 never had such deep mud it was just really wet and cold and had been for weeks. I really don't think we are going to have a mudbath I don't agree with them
  11. I'm also a gardener, I have had a lot of snow this year already, can't help but still be looking for snow though, guess it is the way I was born. If there was 20C in sight I would be looking for that also, however, snow and rain is more typical Spring weather than 20C
  12. it is no looking like remperstures may rise slightly as we go through march which is not such a surprise I guess although I still think e could get a few surprises until the end of April as temperatures are not set to rise that high yet. I am not convinced a temperature rise will be so welcomed by most. I love the weather at the moment, cold and frosty at night and sunny by day and everywhere slowly drying out. Great out in the garden at the moment.
  13. heavy rain, sleet, and wet snow all day today. Hills are all white just a short way up.
  14. 3 inches of snow last night at 11.30pm. Very heavy, stopped by midnight, all gone by morning. Been working outn in my shirt sleeves today in warm sunshine.
  15. for a few moments there was a warning up on met office for here for tomorrow, gone now, must have been a blip. Lows seem to be heading too far south monday and tuesday but according to countryfile forecast too far north on wednesday with most of the region in heavy rain, could well change though two days ago we were very much in line for tommorows event
  16. like I expected to be honest we are back in the warning area for tommorows snow
  17. started snowing at 4am. this morning. 10cm. here just on way out of Macclesfield. Snowing again now getting rid of the car tracks.
  18. I know in MAcclesfield we are a little higher up but not 'very' high up at all. WE got a couple of inches of wet snow that looked very pretty but had melted by 1pm. Hills around are still white. Thick fog most of the morning with light snow falling. Brief snow shower this afternoon but the sun stayed shining
  19. I guess it depends on where you are, it doesn't appear to have sprung for me yet!
  20. it started snowing about 2.30pm. got all excited. Then it stopped! Fine now.
  21. The pictures from saddleworth do suggest to me around three to four inches, maybe around three anyhow. What is a little exaggeration between friends in all the excitement anyway?
  22. maybe not completely wrong. THe seagulls could have been reacting to signals that suggested they should move inland. Maybe they had an unsure forecast and were edging their bets.
