Still warmer here - 3.5 dp and 3.8 temp. Would be interested in hearing what temps /dp you all have?

A bit of optimism required I think! Come on Midlanders, let's be positive lol. Dew points dropping away a bit now I think, certainly down more than 1 degree here in the last hour or so. Somewhere in the Midlands will see snow in the next 48 hours I think and then I shall cheer. Later in the week more chance for the rest of us...

Very true Andy - it's too warm here at present to even be borderline, 4.7 and 4.4 dp. I meant later in the week really, I think Tues/Weds will be a non event.

I agree Andy BUT how many times in the Midlands have we expected little and had a pleasant surprise? I think there could be some surprises for some people yet and I think you being more east midlands stand a chance of more snow than us...

Wow it must be a lot colder with you than here. We have drizzle and a temperature of 4.5, DP of 4.4 and we're not even *that* far away!

Oh I somehow doubt it, I'm just a lowly housewife with a bizarre obsession with the weather. My ramblings would be most incoherant I am sure! But having been a member of this site for many years, I find the contributions and posts by some members to be invaluable and would love a more succinct forum that I could browse to get an overview of what those with more experience are thinking with regard to the latest runs. Maybe you need a netweather hierarchy with VIP posters only allowed to post on certain threads *runs for cover*

I liked the way you had a technical thread before as it meant that the more experienced members could debate without getting irritated by the less experienced who often clog up the general thread. As one of the less experienced, I have to say I avoid posting on the model thread for fear of detracting away for those who have much more knowledge and I can imagine they get frustrated at times with the quality of posts. But I do understand what you say about the fact it was not found to be particularly successful. So maybe a current model reaction thread responding to the shorter timeframe and a deeper analysis thread for posting about possible outcomes?

We have light snow falling too, but most of the precipitation will miss us I see!

We have sleet falling here - more snow than rain now though. Temp 1.2 DP 0.4

Interesting comparing the different temps and dew points. Here we have a temp of 2.5 and a dew point of 1.8 - so still a long way to go if we wish to see snow. I'm beginning to side with Andy here, I fear it may just be too marginal as I don't think we're going to get heavy enough precipitation anyway in this area.

Bleck. I hate rain. Been raining here since 9.30am, it is grey and miserable and wet and last night's snow is more or less gone now. Doesn't it make you want to hibernate?

Snow here but so wet we have nothing sticking at all.

VERY quickly melting here now, it will all be gone before the children come home from school I think. Nothing more frustrating than 5cm of snow that is gone before you know it!

Morning everyone. Woke at about 7am to light slow falling and a very slushy mess from yesterday's thaw. Snow then picked up. However now we have approx 3cms on the ground, more where there was still existing snow cover. Most schools in the town shut apart from the one my children attend! Still snowing hard and fast at the moment, not sure how much longer it will last...

Same temps here Andy and no snow falling. Our snow is thawing incredibly rapidly now, dripping off walls and roofs, pavements that have been walked on are now clear and very wet. Would take a big freeze to lay a base that snow would settle on again I think.

No sign of colder air here, temp rising - now at 0.1 with a dp of -0.4 so getting marginal! Still snowing at the mo though...
