  1. Can clearly see the back edge of the front coming through with the moon setting in the background.
  2. Temperature dropping away, down to 2.4c now the rain has cleared. Not a lot of activity in the west though, can’t see how we’ll get anything from that this evening?
  3. Last nights frost still on the pavement outside where the sun didn’t reach today, despite the air temp now rising to 3.6c. Can’t imagine it’ll stay much longer though.
  4. Morning -2.2c here and a very heavy frost. Under the full moon last night it did look like snow, hopefully not too long until we actually see some proper snow on the ground!
  5. Morning A nice sunny morning here, was above freezing all night though until 6am when it dropped rapidly to a low of -0.8c at about 8:30am. Now -0.2c with a DP of -0.8c
  6. You say the nicest things Tom Fingers crossed though that we all get in on some snow in the next few weeks!
  7. I told some people at work so also my fault Edit: also some weather - currently 3.4c with DP of 0.4c
  8. Morning Be nice if it was right Tom, but time will tell as always. Not sure I dare look in the model thread this morning if Ben’s post is anything to go by. I think the oft repeated “get the cold in first” saying is worth remembering as snow surprises can pop up anywhere! Current temp here 1.4c, DP -1c overcast and breezy from the SE.
  9. Fingers crossed...it’s been a while since we’ve had a snowfall that’s not marginal, that we’ve not had to wait and watch to see if the dreaded warm sector will wash everything away. Even last March, there was a lot of will it/won’t it going on. Just to sit and look out in the garden, snow falling steadily, knowing it’ll keep on for a couple of days yet...bliss! (I will of course ignore thoughts of the work piling up, having to take holiday or time owed in lieu for snow days if I can have that just for a couple of days)
  10. Good that so many are seeing snow this morning! Had three separate days where I’ve seen falling snow this year (however fleeting) and not too bothered whether I see anything today as I’ll be at work and it won’t amount to much - more interested by the prospects of next week if we get that easterly in! Currently 2.5c DP 1.8c and both still falling. Have a good day
  11. Well that was a dramatic drop in temperature! Think the back edge of the front must’ve passed through!
  12. Borrowed from mod thread - if only this was this Thursday! Today’s models seem to have trended towards an easterly which is generally much better for our corner than a north or NW’ly but such a long way out...
  13. Not as warm as forecast so far today, currently showing 7.2c on my station at home. 8c down here in town, overcast with the occasional brighter moment. Pic taken on my lunchtime walk.
  14. Morning Cooler than expected at 2.4c and local reports showing 0c. Hopefully won’t be as cloudy and warm as forecast today too!
  15. Up to 8.4c here today under a persistent blanket of cloud, felt chilly on a seafront walk this morning and never seemed to get properly light. Currently 7.7c and breezy. Looking forward to your update later Ian.
  16. Happy New Year everyone! Just been looking at photos and articles of the January 1987 snow storm which hit Kent pretty badly. I was only 9 at the time but I remember having a few days off school due to lack of heating and a brilliant afternoon in a local country park playing in the snow. I know the chance of seeing something like that again is slim but as I got a shiny new weather station for Christmas it’d be nice if the charts starting to appear came to fruition!
  17. I have one of those! Got a new weather station today so now all I need is some snow and freezing weather to record! Happy Christmas everyone
  18. Happy Christmas Knocker, and thank you for all your excellent posts!
  19. Had the MO forecasters been on the wine at lunch when they wrote Friday’s forecast?
  20. -1.5c here and a frost on the cars and sheds. Shame the cloud will make it disappear before morning!
  21. Same here, the roads were covered on the way home from work. Currently -0.4c here
