  1. I hope no one minds me posting the NYE map of Europe's snowfall cover? There have been some nice additions across eastern Europe with south and east Poland getting a fair amount of snow along with parts of Lithuania and Belarus:
  2. Wet snow here for a few minutes when the band of precip moved through
  3. Tiny little spot on the radar just gave a brief sleety shower
  4. Lovely clear blue skies at the moment - I think that when (if) that line of precip gets here it'll be rain or sleet as it is up to +2c now
  5. I know that I am not going to see any snow here but I'm tempted to get a month's subscription to the NW radar so I can look at the precip types as the rain turns to snow elsewhere!
  6. -17.5c on several of those Finnish traffic cams at the moment
  7. The French radar is looking perky! Might that have some thundery activity when it gets to the UK?
  8. I'd take a repeat of this: I remember this snow very well...daytime maximum of -5c locally and blizzards
  9. Not on this cam: http://www.earthcam..../?cam=lennon_hd Looks far too wet on the ground to lay though Edit: sorry, in time I took looking at the cams others had posted along the same lines
  10. A few rumbles happening here at the moment, more lightning than thunder though and rain is light
  11. Once, early 90's - I think maybe 1991 (the winter with LOTS of snow?) - I was watching tv with the parents when there was a huge flash of lightning followed by a loud rumble of thunder. We all looked out the window to see if snowing heavily with several inches on the ground where it'd been clear only a while before. There were several more flashes which lit the snow up a funny greeny colour - not seen it since though!
  12. No! It's only September after all...always think I will hold out until November but it is usually the start of October. Our house is about 200 years old and drafty
  13. Just a bit crazy! I think anyone who experienced that storm that night will never forget it! Imagine how busy the forums would've been had we had access to the internet back then
  14. Much cloudier in the last hour here, very humid and still 20c. Went to get the washing in a short while ago and there was the odd spit spot of rain but that's it so far...have everything crossed though as I still haven't had a proper storm here this summer
  15. I live in Folkestone so we had the 4.3 magnitude in April 2007, which lasted around 20 seconds, made the whole house shake and was accompanied by a low rumbling. It caused a fair amount of damage to chimney's in the town but that was about it damage wise luckily. Then there was a much smaller one in March 2009 of 2.8 which was shorter. Not sure on the noise as I was beside a busy main road at the time!
  16. This is a link to a webcam located on the 16th floor of a building in midtown Manhattan - very wet and windy! http://live.reuters.com/Event/Hurricane_Irene3
  17. Where are you Diesel Snow Plow? I'm in Folkestone. Just been outside and had a look but nothing to be seen as yet from my vantage point at the moment (I'm a quarter of a mile from the cliffs)
  18. Is it looking likely that the mass tracking this way will keep it's course or veer east when it hits the Channel? We made up a picnic to go out with while it was warm and sunny first thing and then I looked at the radar! Normally I'm hopping about willing any possible storms to come this way but just this one time that i don't and it looks like being a direct hit - typical!
  19. Not a bad afternoon here! Came out of work at 2pm to a looming blackness in the Channel with rumbles. Home at half two just as it started raining then had one huge, overhead bang before it rumbled off to the NE. Now sunnyspells again, back up to 22c and feeling disgustingly humid - it's all good
  20. Watching the radar over Biscay too, might be on for something locally early morning or near dawn maybe
  21. Still 20c here on the SE tip of the UK...temperatures should respond quickly tomorrow. I would call a 32c somewhere in the south or SE
