  1. Just had another heavy burst - wierd question but what kind of snow is everyone else getting? All the showers since nightfall have started off with huge balls of graupel that then progress to fluffy flakes...not too fussed as it's all adding to the totals. All the daytime snow fell as fluffy flakes...
  2. I'd agree! Started about 2.15 when I was in Folkestone...by the time the bus finally struggled back up the hill to Hawkinge it was actually a white out! First one I've seen in a few years The last lot of snow in January tended to be lots of fine light snow over a long period - this time it's been intense blasts over a short time, so far approaching two inches where the wind can't get to it
  3. Interesting school run! Left the house at 2pm with barely a dusting and popped into shops...came out 5 mins later to heavy snow and a cm or so. It's continued snowing since (just stopped now) and have had a 1-2 inches with roads an icy mess people sliding and wheel spinning everywhere More please!
  4. Right - it's below freezing and it's snowing but it's not laying on the roads or pavement where the sun got to it earlier...why's that? Roofs, cars and grass are laying though so can't grumble
  5. Just started up again here now! Nice big flakes not settling on the wet roads or pavements though, just where it hadn't melted earlier
  6. That nicely developing blob approaching NE Kent soon from the looks of things
  7. Did it lay down there when we had that earlier shower Snow Cat? When I dropped the children off to school in Folkestone it had laid but the second the sun came out it started melting
  8. Heavy shower around 8am giving a dusting then the sun came out thawed it and made everything wet. Now snowing again but not settling on the wet bits but I'm hopeful for later though! The wind is biting, F5 or so
  9. Only reached 2.4c here today with light flurries off and on all day. Very cold in that wind though! Now it's dropped to 1c but clear as a bell...hoping for that dusting someone mentioned above
  10. I'd be thrilled to see some excitement snow wise on Wednesday as it's my day off from work! Gives me plenty of time to scrutinise radars without any distractions As for today, it started snowing very light and wet around 8am then sleeted/snowed on and off all day recently stopping. Exciting as I only expected rain or sleet at best here today! Good times
  11. Already down to 2c and had some very fine sleety stuff!
  12. Great post A temperature of 1c doesn't mean no snow as many seem to be worried about - it snowed here yesterday from first light until around midnight and is still going in snow grain bursts now! Even if we don't have much else from this particular spell we just need to remember it's only the first half of January with the traditionally snowy February still to come
  13. Well it's been over freezing all day here, hovering around 1c, and we had 12 hours of non-stop snow. Yes it was mainly light but added several inches to the totals and still no thaw going on! Don't lose hope people
  14. I've been looking for a sledge for a week now and nowhere has them! Tried Sports Direct in town centre every day this week and they've had none. Just worked out how to make a homemade one though
  15. It's great isn't it? Is it all laying nicely down there? Apparently Spitfire Way coming upo into Hawkinge is getting to be passable only with care
  16. I'm almost scared to look at the next radar update to see if it's heading our way...
  17. VERY frustrating, even more so when it looks like the big snow event this weekend will be a repeat of this evening for us
  18. Not all fun in Kent, it's passing just to the NW of here
  19. Similar here in SE Kent, the streamer is within touching distance to my West...a few flakes here today adding nothing to the two inches left over from Weds evening
