  1. 18z GFS parallel is poor also for tomorrow.
  2. Yes I think the vodka is making it even more depressing! lol Back home, my mum had 2 days off work because of the snow.........sigh. That's really rubbing it in.
  3. I see Ross, yes it's another solution albeit an outdated one. Considering this is supposed to be kicking off tomorrow, I don't think it's looking good right now. I cannot believe how much snow many parts of England have seen this week and how many weather warnings they've had and it looks like more snow is to come for many of them tomorrow. Even the Aberdonians have had a good fall, and the Glaswegians, Edinburghererererers and Dundonians have received the short straw again! I know it's only the weather but it's impossible to not feel disappointed! I don't think the vodka is helping matters much either!
  4. The 18z GFS comes out at 930 pm- It's running as we speak. Just disappointment after disappointment for us in this cold spell. Don't know about anyone else but I'm P'd off. Ross- isn't that the 12z GFS you're posting? This is what the 18z GFS is showing for tomorrow- http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn184.png http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn244.png http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn244.png and early monday morning... http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn364.png No Precipitation for the vast majority of Scotland and only very light precipitation in the SW of the country.
  5. But the GFS 18z is coming out as we speak and is following the UKMO in seriously downgrading the PPN for tomorrow. I think you should be preparing yourself for disappointment tomorrow.
  6. Not calling it over but the latest output from the UKMO and GFS is a big downgrade for tomorrow.
  7. The latest UKMO and GFS PPN charts for tomorrow are looking poor for Scotland. Shame really, it's our turn for some white stuff.
  8. Oh dear... anyone watching the GFS 18z? it shows NO PRECIPITATION reaching Scotland tomorrow... it looks bone dry.
  9. This seems to be what the UKMO PPN charts are showing. B)
  10. Very good post shuggee, easy to understand for everyone.
  11. Yes, times have changed a lot it seems. Oh to have winters again like those of the 80's.... I know it's only the weather but when areas to the north and south of us are getting lots of snow and we're getting nothing...again.... it's just very disappointing.
  12. Heavy snow in Aberdeen, another snow event in England with another on the way it seems for sunday... Central Scotland.... not a scooby......again
  13. Yeah dexter, you just couldn't make it up really. Even more snow on the way for the south, been a complete lack of PPN here all week and looking the same for the foreseeable future.
  14. Yes these winters are just miserable with very little happening. I've given up on a decent fall of snow- the models are showing nothing but dry conditions around our neck of the woods whereas up north in Aberdeen they'll get more snow from the northerly and down south they get blanketed....again...
  15. I've been in Dundee 9 years, and I can remember one half decent winter and that was 2000-2001 I think it was? I grew up in N. Ireland and the winters of the 80's and early 90's were excellent along with the winter of 95/96. I'm sure the winters during the 80's and early 90's were quite memorable in Dundee and Perth. I've read some of Norrance's posts and he said that the winters these days in Dundee are very poor in comparison to the winters of the 80's and early 90's.
  16. My mum who lives in North Tyrone in the Strabane area sent me a couple of pics today of the snow and she measured about 4 and a half inches of snow this morning and got the day off work. If the 12z GFS verifies there will be a good dumping of snow in many parts of N. Ireland on sunday.
  17. Anyone else feeling disappointed with this cold spell? We had a couple of cm's yesterday and a few on monday that was washed away by the rain on monday night. There were numerous weather warnings for heavy snow and nothing really came of it apart from a couple of slight coverings. In the SE of England on monday they got an excellent snow event, many parts of england got a good snow event today, there's another on the way tomorrow and lo' and behold, the latest GFS run shows another possible significant snow event for many parts of England on monday whilst my area and Edinburgh look bone dry from now into the middle of next week. At least the Aberdonians had a good fall today and even many parts of Glasgow reported some 3-4 inches of snow on monday and a light fall yesterday. This winter to date has been much colder than the last 2 shockingly poor winters but there's always a lack of precipitation it seems for certain parts. I wonder if there's any Edinburgh folk feeling quite disappointed at this moment in time like I am!
  18. 12z GFS PPN for tonight and early tomorrow look disappointing.... Much less PPN around than previous runs....
  19. Light snow started in Dundee about 10 mins ago.
  20. For Dundee, a north easterly! We're too sheltered when there's a northerly. A good north easterly hasn't hit the area for years upon years. Dundee can do ok from a breakdown scenario sometimes when the atlantic moves in as the cold air hangs around a bit longer in the East.
  21. GFS showing a lot of PPN around tomorrow for much of the day with fairly cold temperatures but there's no warnings out. The FAX charts look interesting too. That's probably a good sign as there was a warning out for Eastern Scotland last night and all we got was rain.
  22. Yes totally agree, I walk to work and this morning was just horrendous. Horrible cold breeze off the north sea and rain, my hands were numb when I got to work! very miserable weather.
  23. Definitely agree with the posts on here, the forecasts got this one totally wrong. It started raining last night around 8 o clock and basically never stopped and is still raining now! The graphics on the BBC forecasts on tv were very misleading. After a few cms on snow yesterday, it soon melted last night and this has been a very forgettable "event" for my neck of the woods.
  24. Latest forecast on N24 was disappointing to say the least. He said "little in the way of snow for Scotland tonight and tomorrow and any showers that do show up will probably be of rain or sleet near the coast". Great.
  25. Fair enough! Very interesting times ahead then
