  1. Shocked just now when I looked on XC to check temperature. It's showing us here as still -6 Must have my heating too high, as I thought it had warmed a bit Good to see some reports of rogue showers cropping up that are not on the radar. That could mean anyone is in for a chance today. Been looking heavy outside for the last hour, but dry here. Have noted the teacher that lives next door is home as his car is covered. Another school closure.
  2. was busy working and popped back to check the radar after a few hours gap to see great big blob over us, and flew to the window. Seems to have stopped again now. Glad its made it over to you lot in Leigh and Southend and hoping more to come
  3. So are those showers heading in this direction, out to sea at the moment not going to make it here across SE Essex or amount to much? Just trying to pull together and make sense of the opinions of those in the know.
  4. my sons is at Shoebury High and they were open. Half expecting him to appear back by lunchtime though. Get out there and enjoy it then with him Either that or teach him what to look for on the radars and get him watching with you lol.
  5. yes I think I was just so pre occupied with the snow I didn't notice them. Seen at least another 2 number 9's since.. It's a hard one to call about travelling. I am due to travel to Ware in Hertfordshire Sat and back Sun. Going to wait until the day to see how it is. I have the same concern about getting stranded. Just need that low to head into our area and not drift in another direction and we should be in for some more. Fingers crossed and lots of radar watching for the next hour.
  6. lol.. yes lock him out there! Just out of interest where is Silver End in Essex?
  7. finally stopped here, but left a lovely covering and was non stop for over an hour. Let the next lot roll in
  8. It has just dawned on me that there have been no buses running down here to East Beach for the last hour. Not that I've seen anyway. They normally run this bit about every 20mins. They have been whats been keeping my little road clear up till now, as its been gritted well being a bus route. In fact cars getting fewer and fewer. No let up at all here, and I would say about 3cm on our wall, which was basically clear an hour ago. I reckon we should be hearing about midday school closures very soon in this area. Edit as I type this a bus has just crawled down the road.
  9. We are in Shoebury and in about 45 mins, we have had a good couple of cm's and one look at the radar and satellites show there will be alot more during the day this way.
  10. Snowing much more heavy now and settling well on what we have already and where the cars and some paths were clear.
  11. Very light snow just trying to come down now in Shoebury. Here we go!
  12. so close, so close I can smell it. Just a little bit longer. Clouded over nicely here now and looking ready for some more action
  13. Thank you Steve. A clear answer there and makes alot of sense now I think about it. That's why i love this forum as I learn so much from everyone in the know.
  14. XCweather is showing Shoebury at -3 yet going outside for look the cars are still ice free. Yet the other night, the car facing in the same direction in the same spot was covered. Does this mean XC isn't too accurate? Anyone got a more accurate one please? Edit that it says -4 now
  15. I have a quick question I was hoping someone may be able to answer for me. We've had nothing in Shoebury but I am meant to be going to vange this morning. Can anyone in the know let me know if there has been anything there I might have to contend with? I am due there until about 5pm, so also concerned about getting hom. Not got the time to look through everything and check it all out for today. I really hope someone can answer and thanks
  16. Yes please do. I may have read it wrong as I just caught the end bit, but she definietly said it seems to be increasing. It could still be very marginal though. The graphics aren't that clear really on it. Have a look and see what you think
  17. How up to date is the Sky news? On now and said the areas at risk is extending and it showed on the graphics it seeming to hit Essex overnight and stalling.
  18. Scroll forward on the main map from now and you'll see it showing the showers heading our way.. Please someone correct me if I am wrong on this though <_<
  19. The NW radar postcode zoom is working for me, and showing a line of showers heading in a line ahead of the main band, heading straight for us... Looking hopeful for a little something at least
  20. ouch just goes to show how dangerous it can be. I've got a journey planned for Sat from SE Essex to nr Hertford.. Watching this potential weather with a mix of excitement and worry now. So far away yet though, so enjoying the roller coaster ride in the meantime and will worry about it later in the week
  21. We had that here and its still going but just very light snow now.. All nice and white outside though, and yes still more to come on the 5 min radar for us
  22. Finally got a white covering outside.. Started as a heavy ish (the noise alerted me as I'd given up for the night) hail/graupel shower and now it's more snow by the looks of it. Nice to see a dusting however small again
  23. I need to travel up from Shoeburyness to take my boyfriend back where he lives in Ware, as he has a hospital appt on Monday. Meant to be going Saturday. but now seriously wondering if we should go Tuesday instead before it gets too bad. Mines showing from Wednesday onwards. Was hoping to travel to Hertfordshire and back on Tuesday
