  1. the netweather lightning radar shows quite alot of sferics still
  2. Looks to me like it is definitely making a NE track looping back over the last hour on met o radar. Even more noticeable on invent
  3. Ahh thanks weatherwise. It must be milton keynes area then as that is very near one of their hubs.
  4. my fiance is a lorry driver working nights and he has just text to say that they have had heavy snow about 6 inches fallen in Bedford and that they have had drivers stranded and lorries not able to get in.. I have only just come on here tonight and not had chance to read through so apologies now if I am repeating things already said. That said I was under the impression from what I heard last night and this morning that it was all further north and the first thing I have done is look on the radar and it shows nothing for this area of the country at all going back over last few hours
  5. nothing here at all as far as I've seen and heard anyway. No rain at all as just been out with rubbish
  6. oh no.. Stevenage storm shield!! I just moved here from Shoebury in Essex where we had the Shoebury snow shield.. 2 of my most favourite weathers. From one shield to another My fiance said he drove through the recent Ware storm and it was Ware and nowhere else
  7. seems to be passing us by and no thunder heard. Looking alot brighter out there now although the winds have got quite gusty in the last few minutes. well at least it rained for about a minute enough to spot the floor lol
  8. Sitting here hoping we might catch something. my house is literally a stones throw from East Beach in Shoebury. In my living room facing SW its really quite threatening looking. Looking out the window directly opposite is still clear blue skies! Talk about on the edge of it
  9. Only a very slight thaw going on here. Looking forward to anything else we get now and to be honest, if we don't then I am looking at the fact that we have had more snow here than I ever expected, including before xmas, and that we are not even half way through January yet.
  10. SE Essex Radar Zoom At least some more in the next few hours for us yet
  11. At the moment for Southend its 0c temp, -1 dew. Keeping fingers crossed not just for us here, but for all you local posters
  12. yes it seems to have been clipping this part only mainly. I suppose it makes a change from all the time its hitting further inland and missing us. Can't see any local people missing out over the next few days though in fact postcode zoom this area on NW radar and a nice chunk that i can't see failing to hit most of Essex.. Again could be wrong but seems to be heading West enough
  13. I really can't see sleet/rain personally but could be wrong. Have you not had much today? We're right on East Beach so catching the edge and thats been pretty much non stop. Enough to stop buses coming out to Shoebury this evening according to the 2 drivers I spoke to so they are obviously expecting more. Everything is still heading in for this are though and we are still under a severe weather warning until midnight tomorrow, so more to come yet.
  14. Been snowing more than not all day today here, and blizzard conditions at times. Had to get bus to local supermarket and they look like they are being cancelled and stopped early tonight from what the bus driver was saying. We seem to be getting the edge of the main bulk hitting Kent.
  15. Been on and off here for nearly an hour. Varying light to heavy, light fall to blizzard like fall, 5p to 50p flakes. Only stopping for brief 1 minute pauses to get breathe back for next lot. definitely blowing around alot though. Winds must have picked right up. ~In fact xc states 0c with 21mph winds.
  16. yes thats what we are doing today. was originally meant to be driving to hertfordshire and back today, but that was already 90% decision made to cancel, and now the car dying made our minds up. Supermarket by bus though as cupboards are bare! There seems to be so much potential for this and surrounding areas over today and tomorrow.
  17. We seem to be getting some of the edge of the streamer in Shoebury here being right on coast. We've definitely had some more outside, and radar looking good for more potential this morning.. Everything now is just a bonus on what we already have laying. The only downside to all this is it has killed the car
  18. sky here turned a pinky/orange all of a sudden and more snow. Typically just as the breakdown truck arrived to look at the dead car, so my partner is now out there getting covered!
  19. where have you seen/heard that? Saying that, that just makes it even harder to think about travelling tomorrow.
  20. Great!! Thank you Wow, I didn't see all that lot coming. Intensifying as you say and looking good.
  21. Which radar do you use? I'm using the net weather 5 min, but always keen for other good ones.
  22. This 'blob' is moving much slower than I originally thought. Snow nearly stopped here, then got a bit heavier again. Still snowing very lightly now. As much as I really love this weather and am constantly lampost and radar watching, I am still in 2 minds about travelling tomorrow. I'm not (I admit) particularly confident driving in the snow/ice - after a couple of near misses. Tomorrow I am meant to be taking someone to Ware in Hertfordshire and back in the evening. It's so hard to tell at the moment, where, when and how much is going to fall. The journey has to be done at sometime soon, preferably tomorrow, but it's a case of take a chance and go, or take a chance and wait for a better day. I know slightly off topic, and I HATE to be asking but does any of the more knowledgeable posters on here have any advice? and heavier again
  23. Lovely. Getting heavier here now, adding to what is laying already. What a lovely surprise although I don't expect it to last long. Good luck to all those in Southend, Westcliff and Leigh
  24. Hi yes it looks good, although staying light here still. I'm right on the coast by East Beach so we often end up getting the very edge of snow situations here where those in Southend, Leigh etc get a better fall. Last night was a good example. NOT that I am complaining at all. Lovely to see no matter how much or little
  25. well we have some light snow here in Shoebury falling. I wasn't expecting any more here today so a lovely surprise
