Well tonight is very cold here and the bird and hedgehog water was freezing up. Came upstairs and my partner looked out the window and called me over as he was convinced it had snowed. So I went over in disbelief, and tried to convince him it was just ice and I had just been out of the house the other side. Yet the windscreens all have what l like a covering of snow, with gaps where its slid down. So I decide its time to pop back in to Netweather and have a catch up. Looked back at the radar and nothing.. But then at 9.50 (I think) it shows a blob of freezing rain right over our town.. Hello winter ?

Just zoomed in on the 10.35 radar and pink blobs showing in a few places. We have had some here in Stevenage too.. See a blob right near harpenden and another near St Albans at least.. Seemed to be building up to me -

I have been sitting by the window and have been engrossed in what I was reading while catching up in here.. Just glanced up as I thought I heard the delivery driver we were expecting and noticed that while reading I have been missing the fact that it's sleety outside.. Just spoke to driver and he says it's been trying to snow in a few areas locally this last half hour. -

Got to say we have been lucky here as we had a nice little covering last night and this lot is just adding to it and given a fresh dusting where it was melting. Can see the dogs paw prints again next when I look out the upstairs window -

Well I am pleased to report that we have had moderate, sometimes heavy snow here for about 1.5 hrs and it still looks heavy and a blanket of grey up there. Over the last 20 minutes or so the wind has got very gusty as well turning it into a good blizzard effect out there at times -

Not 100% sure but sitting outside in garden and it all went very quiet esp the birds for a minute then pretty sure i heard a rumble. If I did then it must be pretty loud in places as we are further north than the current storms in London area. The sun has pretty much disappeared and the skies are looking quite grey. Slight breeze keeps dropping and very humid.. Now the birds are getting very noisy again -
Well have been sitting out under grey skies not just willing the sun to come out but talking to it very nicely giving it some support and encouragement to beat the cloud and burn through. 5 minutes in and it's getting warmer and brighter.. So guys n gals a l'il ole word in Mr sunshines ear might be order.. Its getting stronger as I type. Still got some work to do yet to burn it away but it's not through lack of trying

It's really really trying here. Been sitting in my onesie in the garden and has been grey and murky but def more humid and a slight warmth in the air amongst the slightly cool get the breeze. The big yellow thing we haven't seen for a while is there. I know where it should be this time of day and there is a def hint of brightness in that vicinity. A strange feeling waiting expectantly for summer to start in a few hours. And not just summery weather but my absolute favourite type of weather: sun, heat and humidity. Yes I will most likely be caught out moaning from time to time how I cannot sleep or it is just too muggy but that will all build my excitement of waiting for the first potential storms of the year. And the best thing? If they don't appear here I will be a very happy bunny anyway with with the sun and warmth and love hearing others reports, radar watching, hoping and even watching a good old storm or two on my laptop on the good old Webcams dotted around favored storm locations here and over the channel. So all in all, for me personally, I am looking forward to a weather win win situation Enjoy everyone

Can anyone tell me a good site or app to get pretty accurate current temperature and dew point? All I have to help me judge it is when I pop my head outside to see what's happening.. Basically it doesn't feel that cold yet but unless my eyes are playing up which is very possible at the moment there is the odd sleety burst occasionally

Just seen some toys blowing around on the wind.. Either that or they are just getting thrown Well came back on thread to check in on reports to find bickering. This event is not over yet so why not analyse it after its all over as to who was right and who was wrong etc.. Suddenly brightening up here after a very very afternoon.. Well it's trying to anyway. Still pretty gusty and squally showers here blowing through.

Well I was just logging in to say how some of the reports that I have been reading in here and especially the south west thread are crazy.. And I was going to say how calm it here. Was very windy earlier and some heavier gusts thrown in but nothing much. As I logged in to report it, the rain started hammering on the window and the wind started picking up again.. Read reports of rain so intense its going through a ceiling, and thundery and lightning almost simultaneously. Plus some very intense gusts and squall lines. Nothing that bad here, but hope my family in Kent and essex don't come off too bad. Well after that little outburst out there its all gone calm again ☺

Just popped out for a smoke and saw my first flakes coming down. Treated to 3 lamposts round here and a little garden lamp so lovely view. Not too heavy but steady for a good 10 minutes..Its not settled but it was definitely trying to.. That's it I am easy pleased and any more will be a massive bonus

Popped out for smoke a few minutes ago and looked a little cloudy but patchy in places. Am about 10 minutes from the A1m and the radar showing I should be right slap bang in the middle of the heavier bursts.. Bone dry at the moment. Unsure of actual temperature out there but was feeling warmer than earlier.

Get out the snow magnets and if we both face the right direction hopefully we can draw it over to us and either way am already getting excited at the prospect of the slightest chance. A fun day/evening/night of popping in and out the thread, radar and lampost watching to come. My fav type of day. Love it even if we get nothing..Good job my fiance is as keen as me over it all and is not at all clued up on the pc so it's my job to keep popping back and giving updates a woman's work is never done eh
