  1. i was being nice to our snow starved south coasters :(

We're the ones who have had too much in Dorset! - We've had 1 inch out of this whole winter event and that 1 inch was just far too much for us, it was just getting out of control with snow depths so deep!:(:yahoo: :yahoo:

Looks like the heavy band is heading off into France!! thats that over with then! - another non event no doubt for Dorset! - Is there a record amount of non snow events at all? Dorset should win!

  2. the way i look at it is what ever happens tomorrow we have had a great couple of weeks more than we could ever have wished for at the start of the winter and with more to come by the looks of it beofre this winter is out im very contented with what ever i get im really happy we are finally seeing a proper winter makes up for all the crappy ones in recent years:rolleyes:

Lucky you!! you certainly can't complain if you don't see any snow then tomorrow  - Us Dorsetiers have seen no more than 1 inch this winter!

  3. Hi all ,just in from work, internet down at my work so what's the story, see met office have upgraded to 80% snow for us,Has stayed pretty darn cold in the Poole area today real miserable with very light sleet, temp at 1430 only 0.5deg so i guess cold easterly 1 - 0 warm westerly. Am I in for another late nighter glued to NW? lazy.gif

It still says 60% for Dorset. The 80% is for Devon and Somerset unfortunately!

  4. Drizzle here for the past 90 minutes in Wareham. Doesn't bode well for those on the south coast for tomorrow

Really? we've had light sleet here in East Dorset all morning!

A new update on the MET Office advisory for Tomorrow, pretty much in line with the 06Z NAE which they probably waited for, before releasing.

an increase to 80% certainty for Devon and Somerset (as regardless of how far east the band gets, it will at least get to these parts).

Also as per the 06Z, turning to rain in places.

    South West England:

    80% Devon

    80% Somerset

    60% Bath + NE Somerset

60% Cornwall & Isles of Scilly

    60% Dorset

    60% N Somerset

    60% Plymouth

    Heavy Snow 1200 Tue 12 0600 Wed 13

There is a high risk of a severe weather event affecting much of Southwest England along with southern and central Wales.

A band of heavy snow will move northeastwards during Tuesday afternoon and the first part of Wednesday before easing off. New snow accumulations of 5-10cm are expected widely with 10-20cm likely in places. This is more likely in parts of south Wales and on high ground of Southwest England. On high ground there is also a moderate risk of over 30cm. The strengthening southeasterly wind is likely to lead to drifting of snow.

This could cause disruption to travel networks and lead to problems with power lines.

The snow is likely to turn to rain across much of Cornwall and on south coasts of Southwest England on Tuesday evening as well as Southwest Wales.

This warning is likely to be superseded by Flash Messages.

Excellent! Dorset still only 60% lol! - Dorset will most probs be removed and be a non event later! - im certainly not getting any hopes up for snow anymore after the large amount of non events for us Dorset people!

  5. I am grateful for the inch or so snow we had here in Poole on Wednesday. It was an unexpected suprise after the huge disappointment of Tuesday night. All the precipitation literally seemed to pivot around more or less the whole of Dorset!.

What does make me laugh is people on other threads moaning about the lack of snow yesterday. These being for areas who have had more than their fair share of the white stuff this winter.

So far, we've had two let downs this week so I fear our chances are now very slim indeed. Unfortunately, really cannot see us getting any snow on Tuesday/Wednesday. The temps and conditions simply don't support it unless the MetO are privvy to info we do not have access to.

In the mean time, I'm setting up a 24hr telephone counselling service for all snow-starved snow lovers in our county biggrin.gif

Good idea, think we might need that service by the end of the week!

People who have had 4 inches or more of snow and still moan if they're not going to get anymore are greedy and taking the pee!!!

I expect the snow will fall to all the Dorset borders in the west, North and East of the county and we'll remain dry as per normal!!

Tuesday/Weds will be a non event for us in Dorset, this is just going by the fact that although we've had a whopping 1 inch, they've all been non events over the last couple of weeks!
