  1. Well after all the hype and promise we in Poole have an impressive total of one inch of snow from this so called memorable winter. Everything to our west north and east as usual. I could add even south as the isle of wight and certainly the channel islands have fared better. Being a snow lover and being a realist after so many years of disappointment I feel its time to hang up my netweather boots and find something more constructive to do after so much radar watching and lack of sleep only to end in abject misery. So goodbye my friends im off down the pub to drown my sorrows.

I agree! Dorset seems to be the only county with its own climate! - its shocking! - Im not taking a blind bit of notice of the MetO warning for snow Tuesday/Weds because no doubt it will be a non event yet again!, well for Dorset anyway! - Getting used to these non events now that we've had so many! :D

  2. It is on the BBC's Local Weather report on the internet. It has shown rain instead of snow for the past 24 hours. Could it be that someone doesn't like us down here or that they have run out of snow flake graphics?

Hmmm, snow is a miracle !

Not quite sure where your seeing rain on the graphics?? Ive typed in both Wimborne and Bournemouth on their and it shows just snow and no rain at all??

Ah do you meen on the chart which you slide along?

I was thinking the 5 day forecast because this shows snow.

  3. Yeah, of course we got it wrong on Tuesday night, too.

Await the amendments - the graphics are merely representing how the (last run of) UKMO global model suggests the worst through on Sunday and clearing overnight - albeit slowly - into Monday but very probably leaving a nasty legacy.

Still great uncertainty on disruptive impact, hence UKMO retaining advisory but keeping powder dry on early warning - for now. Prudent science, versus hyperbole.

Ok thanks for that :wallbash: - I think i will just sit back and wait and see what happens nearer the time!

  4. I suspect thats automatic updates from the GFS 12z.

ALL news channels saying at least the end of next week, probably longer.

Ah thought so! - Seemed a bit strange! - Thanks

(Just checked and yes its the GFS 12z!)

No thaw today on areas away from main roads - Been a nice sunny winters day and to have lying snow on the ground at the same time makes it a whole lot nicer! - Fingers crossed for Sunday but won't get my hopes up until Saturday night after Tuesdays Forecast going wrong for us!

  5. One day us Dorset folk will learn!, after the huge disappointment of last night and over the last few years we should know by now that everything that has potential will diminish when it hits the Bournemouth,Poole and Purbeck brick wall!!!!,For now though we need to pick ourselves up and start all over again for the weekend lol

Yea!, we pretty much have our own little climate in this little part of the UK/World!! - I dont think i will be listening to or trusting any forecasts though for the weekend after yesterday and last nights performance!!. I will just wait until the day and watch the radar is the best thing i think!!

  6. What a stupid comment.

The isnt anything on the radar coming into Bristol. Thats why I asked.

What is heading Bristol way....anyone know...

Thats why i was asking about the warning.

You sounded a bit puzzled as to why it wasn't still pep on the radar and it wasn't still snowing until 4pm when the metoffice have said 4pm on their warning!

    Never mind!

RainToday radar is looking better for us than the MetO radar! lets hope the raintoday one is correct :)

  7. Just been looking at radar to the North East of the region,is it me or is there another line of slighly heavier prec building up heading down s-sw,where it will drop down to not sure but possibly Poole area of Dorset in for a little more maybe?

Yep i noticed this line not long ago and if keeps on track it looks like heading straight for Dorset!

    Fingers Crossed!

  8. Not sure why a weather warning is out for us until 16:00 for heavy snow? Mostly gone for Bristol on the radar now.

That doesnt meen that the snow was ment to suddenly stop when the clock changed from 3.59pm to 4pm LOL! Its just a time frame that the snow is ment to fall within!!

Starting to snow lightly here again in East Dorset. The Pep approaching from the NE looks interesting

  9. Some parts of Dorset have definately got snow(sorry if the south haven't :) ), It's snowing very heavily hear now in N.Dorset and is already covering the ground where the snow has been removed once this morning.

Just been outside had a snowball fight with the kids(school cancelled) and will take them sledging later.

Shaftesbury and Gillingham have been heavily hit etc.

Nice, narrows it down to East dorset being the only place then :) but fingers cross that all this precip heading down now brings us something good!
