  1. And still experiencing. Heavy drifting snow still falling, temp -0.9c with comparisons being made to 1979.
  2. Local radio just announced we have the worst snow for at least 30 years, airport still closed, many roads are treacherous and the advice is to stay in doors unless your journey is absolutely necessary. Schools are closed too surprisingly!
  3. Morning peeps Waking up to 2 foot drifts IMBY (literally) which means in outlying areas on the island the drifting must be double that, at least! It continues to snow persistantly and is forecast to continue until mid to late afternoon. Current temp -0.8, pics to follow later.
  4. Here are some recent pics I've taken in our ongoing blizzard. More to follow tomorrow http://forum.netweat...lizzard-110313/

    Jersey Blizzard 11.03.13

A few shots of the blizzard currently effecting the island. More to follow soon.
  6. Extreme conditions remain here in Jersey. Lots of trees down, power lines down (approximately 200 homes without power), roads are now virtually impassable and the snow is relentless. At least 3 inches of fresh snow has fallen since 4pm on top of the 2 to 4 inches we had this morning, but with much deeper drifting occurring. I've a feeling it's going to be a long night.
  7. Incredible scenes here in Jersey right now. I haven't seen snow like this for many years, since 1979 in fact! Total whiteout conditions, visibility 100m, wind E gale 8 to severe gale 9 and a temp of -0.9C. The island has completely ground to a standstill
  8. visibility currently down to 100 metres in heavy drifting snow, the worst it's been so far today - unconfirmed reports of 8 to 12 inches in Guernsey and 4 to 6 inches here in Jersey and rising ...
  9. Total whiteout here now with the heaviest snow we've seen all day so far

  11. After a brief respite, blizzard conditions are closing in again and it's just been announced all island schools are closed again tomorrow. Current temp: -0.5
  12. It has only very recently been upgraded so I like to think it's top banana http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-jersey-21545457
  13. There's still plenty of time for more and our local forecast has just been updated with further heavy snow forecast between now and tomorrow lunchtime
  14. This is the scene in my back garden taken just a few minutes ago. Note the metal private property sign in the garden to the left of the trampoline. The wind has ripped the sign clean off the wall next to the wheelie bin in the top left of the picture and launched it unceremoniously over the fence into our garden! I am just glad none of us were hit by it It's still snowing here although we appear to be having a respite from the deluge we had this morning and it's now very windy indeed. The strongest winds are expected between 3pm and 6pm this afternoon so time to batten down the hatches.
  15. Incredibly windy outside now. The snow has eased somewhat and I will hazard a guess of approximately 2 to 4 inches of lying snow but with deeper drifts. http://www.jerseymet...Radar/Radar.htm Current temp: -0.2C
  16. Will do and yeah, a snowfest indeed. Many of our roads are now becoming treacherous and almost all of our public transport has stopped.
