Well, let's hope that the temperature and dew points stay below freezing (especially dew points) here it's already -0.4'c temp, and -0.6'c dew points, which is VERY marginal for snow.
I fear as the morning goes on, the dew points will creep above zero and we'll get cold rain
At least we had a slight dusting here, although it's measurable in MM, rather than CM....maybe 0.2mm of snow depth lol
Anyhoo, yesterday was awesome, with a heavy frost and not climbing above minus 2'c all day :-) at least it actually feels like winter this year, even with no decent snow (so far....fingers crossed!!)

Compare 12z with the 12z and 0z with the 0z,
It's a huge improvement, we've got wedges of high pressure, a tanking neg ao, and no vortex over this side of the hemisphere, I think by tomorrow morning it'l look much better and this evenings will be an improvement again
I've just had a look at the GFS (no others yet) and I think you're right!! It looks a whole lot better than the last couple of days, I think there's a swing back towards colder weather and away from southwesterlies. However the pendulum has only just started to swing back.
Also,it's snowing here?? in the east midlands??? and heavily???

well, well, well, there's a small trough of snow heading this way from the northeast.
In fact, it's snowing a bit now!!!.
So, let me get this straight. if it's forecast snow for here, it will not happen. But if it's not forecast snow here.....it snows??!!
Anyhoo, let's see how long it lasts against the mighty north warwickshire snow shield!!

The GFS 12z is showing itself for Friday as an almost all day snow event....we’ll see
The Met office say that it'll be "fizzling out as it moves south" , so don't get your hopes up. It's been a pretty disappointing cold spell

Missed out on the heavier stuff at lunch time.
Clouds looked threatening all afternoon, but nothing. Then they changed from the west to the north east direction as they are now!!
Looks as though there has been a 'development' over the Midlands this afternoon, between Birm and Derby?
Between the 2 bands we developed clear skies an hour ago, and the temps have fallen quickly again. Now at 0.1C from 2.2C max at 13:30. I am recording a well negative -4.3C(?) dew point now. So anything should be snow later on. Frost/ice on all cars now again.
The bands coming down from the north seem to be heading for the centre of the 'low' and we will see if they keep any intensity.
Still think most/some(?) parts of the Midlands will have some sort of snowfall tonight.
Good luck to all - Stoke will not need it though!!
MIA
dew point of -4.3'c?? I'm only at -0.4'c here and that's only 14 miles away

There are a couple of interesting developments to the dying front, whether they can break the snow drought in the middle Midlands I can't say
