  1. Medium sized flakes now at the rate of about 40% , we're getting there! I just listened to Kate Bush "December will be magic again" it's a spell you know, for when times are desperate
  2. Well, good news is that it's turned to that very sleety wet snow, which is trying to stick on the bins and such. I think, given a bit more time and heavier precipitation (really annoys me having to type that word <--- I could just write 'snow' instead!), i think it'll be full snow before long
  3. i think if that film were to ever come true, the Midlands would still be in a mild sector and would be the best place on earth to live
  4. there is still a good chance, have a bit more faith (me included)
  5. there is a large area of precipitation heading down from 'up north' you never know, we may get it all after midnight
  6. i'm drinking a bottle of wine too, I'll have to drown my sorrows, seeing as I won't be able to bury them in snow :-(
  7. The main bulk of the stuff isn't even due here until around 7-10pm. Give it a chance. If you run the radar you can see it's already hit the cold air wall up north and is starting to edge westwards. I think we'll be alright for a dusting tonight :-)
  8. Dry as a bone here, even though the radar is showing moderate levels of precipitation
  9. It'll be another failed snow event, just like every other year But I need to travel on my motorbike tomorrow, so it can do what it likes
  10. Don't be too disheartened, I don't think I can remember a single snowfall, where the area progged for the most, got the most. It was always 30 miles this way, or 30 miles that way, that could make a huge difference. Just as all the models have underestimated the blocking of the cold, there's not much to say that the snow might be squeezed further west as it bumps into the puddle of cold air. I'm hopeful, but I will not be in the least surprised if it goes bottoms up at the last minute, this is the Midlands after all
  11. I have not a clue!! It's almost liberating. When I was a lad in the 80s, I used to walk to the library every day and read the weather in the local paper, this feels the same lol
  12. the Met offices' charts have warmed up, what better reason could there be for discarding them?
  13. OK, so 2 hours ago it was rain for here tomorrow night, now it's snow again and the bbc says "there could be a few centimetres" I think I speak for all of us when I say................ AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. I feel like FI is getting nearer and nearer by the day. The models aren't doing anyone any favours, this is total chaos. This is like being transported back to the 1980s in forecasting terms. I sort of like it, but also hate it. I almost want it to turn mild because then at least the damn models would be a bit more reliable. all this uncertainty is so strange, it's almost like something 'big' is waiting to happen
  15. i'll eat my hate if we get 'substantial snow' :-D
  16. Lol! so you're 20 miles west of me and have 0'c and heavy snow. I have sleet and 2'c 20 miles east from you in the colder air? WTF? lol. The bbc really is shyte isn't it?
  17. Yep, had a good look and it shows the entire region is dry as a bone until Monday, where either all hell breaks loose with snow, or it's just a rain even and the Atlantic breaks through, or it doesn't push in at all and we remain dry and somewhat cold and frosty. I think I'll go with the last one. I think this region is doomed to snowlessness for eternity! (I'd gladly have anyone quote me on that and throw it back at me 'should' there be a snow event)
  18. The 'snow' event on monday is showing as a rain even on the euro, seems to sweep the uppers away far too easily. I hope it's wrong.
  19. Have you got a link to the charts that show that, I can't see any snow getting anywhere near until Monday's annoying 'event' (snow to rain events are rubbish, and should not be allowed! )
  20. It's the stuff up to the west of Scotland, which is due for here, not the stuff over the Welsh marches. If you run the radar, they look as though they may get a bit further east than forecast. Not missing the west, just a more extensive area
  21. I'm wondering, seeing the ground is so wet and warm, would that be conducive to freezing fog formation, once we get the HP over us? That for me, is an easy second best to snow, and makes for stunning pictures.
  22. Precipitation starting to show more sleet and snow now. Wonder if we'll get a dusting after all? :-)
