  1. Clear here too and not very cold at all for saying that snow is supposed to be on the way.
  2. Had a brief hail shower here earlier and the sky is darkening now but the temps are not cold enough for snow.
  3. A nice round 8c for me please.
  4. No snow here as yet. I'm in the East Mids so am in line for some according to the models. Lovely day so far though. Bright sunshine. If a bit breezy.
  5. I'll second that but would like it to last until October rather than September. A long hot summer is what we need.
  6. Sleet and rain. Nothing to get excited about at all.
  7. You're house sounds like mine (well, my parents' house) used to be. We had two bar electric fires, no central heating then, the oven was left on in the kitchen in order to warm it up and we would pile coats on the beds to keep warm. This is not going back to Victorian days but is in the 60s. No, we didn't get so many colds or viral infections in those days either. I think people have become so used to central heating that when they go out now they really feel cold. When I was a kid it was sometimes warmer outside than inside!
  8. Wow, this thread takes me back! I remember the days when we didn't have central heating in the 60s and how the windows would ice up in winter. I recall trecking over the fields as a kid in deep snow drifts over the top of my wellies, how the snow seemed to last for days on end and roads would be blocked. Imagine that nowdays! Life went on then but today things would grind to a complete standstill as we're just not used to such conditions.
  9. One sentence? Here goes: Blast these christmas pudding winters with cold pooling stuck to the North without a southerly jet or a N'erly plunge in sight, let alone a Beast from the East.
  10. I'll go for 15.3 to be reached in December. Also I think the end of Feb will produce some warm temps in readiness for an early spring.
  11. My favourite type of weather has to be hot and sunny. And dry. It's got to be dry weather. I hate, really, really hate rain. I like mild winters but not Atlantic driven ones. In fact, although I'm a mild lover I would prefer cold dry days in winter to mild, grey wet ones. Overall though, hot sunshine is my favourite. As for why I prefer this type of weather ... well there is so much more one can do outdoors when it's sunny and dry. Plus getting up in the morning is so much easier when it's warm and the sun is shining. Cold, wet days just make me feel like turning over and going back to sleep
  12. LOL Okay then, maybe just a little rain. Overnight of course
  13. Spring: Warm days with a gentle breeze and the odd April shower. Summer: Hot, hot, hot. Heatwaves and high pressure over us for the entire summer (water shortages? .... this IS only fantasy  Autumn: Frosty mornings but crisp clear, sunny days with a hint of fog forming in the evenings. Winter: Dry, sunny days with crisp air and no sleet. Just clear skies and maybe the odd snow shower now and again.
  14. I'll stick my neck out and have an early guess at 11.2c.
  15. If it stayed like this, or warmer, throughout September I would be happy. Time enough for Autumnal weather in October and November. Let's enjoy the sun and the warmth while we can. Remember it's a long time till next summer
  16. I too am going for a warm Autumn and mild winter. I doubt we will ever see anything approaching 62/63 again in our lifetimes, though I would be happy to be proved wrong.
  17. Here are mine: Winter: 21st December - 28th February Spring: 1st March - 31st May Summer: 1st June - 21st September Autumn: 22nd September - 20th December
  18. I'll stick my neck out and go for 15.0c on the dot!
  19. What I would like for Autumn: September: Warm and dry most of the month. October: Indian Summer. November: Cool and dry with night frosts. December: Sharp frosts but sunny days. In reality I expect: September: Warm and mostly dry but lows moving in in the last week. October: Mild and stormy. November: Dry, grey and mild. December: Atlantic lows bringing wet snow in between mild grey periods.
  20. Had a couple of heavy showers today. Wind no more than a light breeze. Been a miserable day for August though.
  21. I'm sure 30c will be easily exceeded somewhere today. It's so hot here already in the East Mids that I feel 30c will be hit anytime this afternoon.
