As is often the case with a N/NE wind direction, very little in the way of rain here up to now. Dry dull and cloudy in the main.

Hail and snow showers here on and off for the last hour. Hadn't expected even a shower out of this so a bit of a surprise. Must be more of a n/nw rather than the usual straight northerly.

Rain has arrived here. What a difference 24hrs makes.

Few small flakes blowing about in the wind here.

It's a nailed on cert that the heavy rain forecast for tomorrow will arrive just the way it seems to happen for us. Its quite bright at the moment will get another walk in for sure this afternoon before the mild muck gets here.

Time to dust off the deckchairs .
Our boiler has already decided its had enough, second day running I've had to defrost the thing, and it's one of those new fangled condensing boilers, the ones that never freeze up. Going to move the outlet pipe as its exposed to the E wind, that's where the problem is.

We're forecast here 'clear skies with a gentle breeze'...
It's currently -3ºC, cloudy and snow has just started falling
Same. We actually have the lightest of light snow falling here.

Preston : Dec 2009 & 2010 about 6cm each
....the end
Amazed how many fronts move up from the south and stop at Southport before slipping away. Nothing in 2018...nadda
For decent frontal snow here we need it to be realy coming in straight from the Irish sea ideally placed straight up and down the coast in a n/s line and as long as the cold pool in situ is cold enough .... bingo. That's what happened in 1996.
You're right, anything from the sw is a non starter here. Fizzles out before it gets here or splits ending up going up the coast heading towards the s lakes.

Completely dry 2 days here. The difference is tonight looks like being much colder than last night.

Showers managing to miss here again today. Currently looking like they are 2 or 3 miles to the south of here.

Well as odd as it sounds; it's snowing heavier at the front of the house now and it's backed off at the back
Suns out, and it's snowing...
PPN definitely following general line of the ribble valley. Same thing happens quite often during the summer with storms going in the opposite direction. Get a great view of all the lightning out of our front room window, same now looking at the clouds passing s and se of here.

Heaviest it's fallen today so far (apart from the dusting overnight which soon melted in the sun this morning)...
It's starting to settle too, just. If it stops it'll soon disappear
Nice ! Sun's out here. Can see all those clouds just to the S of here.

Interesting to look at the gaps where the showers are coming across the hills. Plenty sedbergh and Kendal area, then there's a few making it through between Blackburn/Leyland area then more organised to the east of Manchester. Gap to the N of Preston up to say Lancaster at the moment. Ties in with the higher elevations to the east perhaps ?

Crikey; shows you the direction of travel. We've had a good dusting here in WLD; gardens and cars covered and it's starting to fall again as I type this
Seemed to broadly follow the line of the ribble valley and remained intact, whilst the stuff further N breaks up over the trough.

Off topic ..... just reading about the 2 wild campers on Red Screes breaking lockdown regs, who called Mountain rescue leading to one of the Patterdale rescuers ending up in hospital. There really are no words for some folk ☹ unbelievable.

There has been some, a little dusting in places (tiny dusting) and light snow on my way to work this morning.
All managed to miss this part of Preston to the south. Went down towards the S of the river. Leyland/chorley look like getting battered ATM which is what happened in 2018.
