  1. Sleet earlier today in Halifax, then at around 4pm it really started snowing for a bit, problem was the ground is wet but still a covering, lovely heavy snow with big chunky flakes, more shower activity moving in!
  2. It's starting to drop cooler now, it certainly was a heck of a lot milder today than earlier this week, it felt balmy! The rain was awful today in particularly around lunch time where in Halifax where i worked rain was blowing in every direction very very heavily even blowing into our depot! The calm after the storm is on it's way, i don't expect any snow realistically, the wind seems to of picked up in the last hour where i am near Huddersfield.
  3. Lets be frank about it all, if you live in Preston/Liverpool/Manchester/Warrington or what ever fair low laying areas there are in the north-west you will always struggle to get snow, even up on the higher hills struggle.....everyone knows if you live in lancashire you struggle unless your around the higher pennine parts. Cumbria always fairs better but again low laying areas struggle, The amount of times i've been to Preston or Manchester and looked at the snowy hills of the pennines when it's just cold and miserable lower down is unbelievable. In the last few years up in the pennines we have had up to a foot of snow when Manchester etc. have had nothing.
  4. http://www.viewsurf.com/liste-tag-neige.html All of French ski resorts.
  5. Lol, i'm about 170m up and it was just wet snow when we had it during the night....the tops look white though and snake pass and woodhead pass are open fine so it isn't that bad anywhere round huddersfield south.
  6. That was Sheffield area and Peak district area, we had snow in the south pennines but not a metre.
  7. Had a light snow shower on the way home near ainley top huddersfield.
  8. The contrast is amazing! sunny and 10degrees in northern england, a couple of hundred miles north there are 30cms of snow! and more!
  9. It would be nicer to have some very cold settled weather, the winds have been pretty bad around these parts and the rain seems to be pretty relentless...more coming tomorrow!
  10. Cheeserice i'd rather it rained and gave everything a good wash down, transitional snow is pointless.
  11. It is what it is basically, it's for all us weather fans who don't really understand whats going on synoptically but Roger always seems to give us a damn good read which we even understand! And some of the time there is even humour in his posts, Now OON often offers us humour but thats it lol
  12. The Peak district are still white with deep snow, Snow laying since December up there and pretty much similar around here since then.
  13. hahaha well done i've just seen your snowman on look north! Well done lad!
  14. Had a couple of snow showers this afternoon, half of the snow has melted at height around Huddersfield between 150-300m.
  15. A couple inch of snow, very slowly melting...outside temp is 3.2 with a dp of 1.2
  16. We have a dusting here near Huddersfield, West Yorkshire....Snowing quite moderately here now, was light from about 5.30 onwards.
  17. Yup snow tea time for South Yorkshire and then early evening it will spread north-eastwards, Whats more is it is forecast to snow thursday night into friday morning? Brilliant !
  18. Well a slight covering down here, a bit more of one up the hill....Started off going over Scapegoat in a very heavy shower and i came home over the hill in one with some very impressive snow flakes. Good day!
  19. No you misunderstood, i was merely stating where i lived was rural and the reasons i loved it I've been to the SE a fair few times so i kinda know it isn't a big city....Still you can jump to conclusions all day long for me!
  20. Yes but it's the South-east so thats a minus for one I love where i live in West Yorkshire, it's rural...When snow is marginal we get it, when it isn't marginal we reallllly get it and we have some amazing snow drifts. In the spring/summer the it is often pretty dry and lower down we're pretty sheltered so we have long sunny days and in the Autumn the moors look amazing!
